Alternative to candles

Kristin, on July 12, 2017 at 2:08 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 11

Hi everyone! So the venue we are having our reception at does not allow candles even if the are covered. I love the look of candles, but hate the look of fake candles does anyone have ideas for an alternative! I would love to hear from

That sucks. I adore candles. Maybe fairy lights would work?

There are many realistic 'fake' candles. Quite a few that mimic natural flickering flame in an amber color. I did these at mine since the venue didn't allow open flame and they looked great. No one was the wiser. If you are going to go the LED route look for pillar candles that have a deep inset for the "flame", higher sides that won't show the flame part at all. Tealights can be put into votives with higher sides too. You'll never see the fake flame but get the feeling of a true candle.

My venue doesn't allow them either. I bought candle votives from the dollar store and batterized candles at Big Lots.

Although my venue allows real candles, my reception is outside and I'm using LED tea lights so I don't have to worry about it

My issue with the candles that are fake, but more realistic is trying to find them at the right budget. Our wedding is on the larger side and our venue is huge so trying to find them at the right price has not been the easiest.

I got mine at quick candles. quickcandles.com

I found they were the lowest priced option around!

If you don't like fake candles (I don't either) but want that soft glow for centerpieces cake etc you could ask your DJ or lighting person about pin spotting. That's what I'm doing. Basically they point a pinspot light on those focal items to make them glow. Here's an example of with and without a pinspot light. It was a MUST for me but I love good lighting.

Another Kristin H! Hello Smiley smile we have a candle-less venue as well. We did flameless votives. I got them in Amazon for less than $1 each. I want to say $8 for a pack of 12. The dollar store near me sells 4 packs also, but they're not quite as "real" looking
