Alternatives for Ceremony

Amber, on October 10, 2022 at 4:47 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 2
I’m having a Marriage Ceremony March of 2024 since my wife and I did not get a “real” wedding. This will be for our 5 year anniversary. I just barely started looking into everything and, honestly, already getting unwanted opinions. I have a very conservative family and as a same sex couple I’m being asked to change/remove things from the wedding.. does anyone have ideas or suggestions for alternatives of a traditional ceremony?

Well, first off, I'd like to say that unless this is something that you want to change, don't. You do not have to tailor your ceremony because of a conservative family, as God loves us all the same exactly the way we are.

That being said, you can basically say whatever the heck you want during your ceremony. I would suggest looking into a non-religious LGBTQ friendly officiant, I bet they have tons of scripts that you could go off of!

Our wedding was ‘traditional’. We didn’t get married in a church, but we did have our wedding at a venue. And our LGBTQ friend also officiated our wedding. I also have family members who are conservative, my mom in particular. But, we didn’t let that stop us from doing what we wanted to do. I think you all should do whatever you want and make it special for the both of you.
