Alternatives to a Guest Book?

Suzie, on November 2, 2013 at 8:13 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 43

We are getting married next month and don't want to do a guest book (or one of those fingerprint trees). Any other ideas out there? It's a small wedding, about 15 guests - all family.

Thank you!!

Suzie

I got a large wooden letter from Hobby Lobby and stained it myself. I chose a dark stain. Then I coated it with a clear gloss. I will provide silver sharpie pens so people can sign in that. It can hang in our house as a decoration. There's that idea.

I am going to do the same thing as KatieM, but I also thought about doing a canvas with one of our engagement pictures on it and they could sign that.

Personally I like something like this:

because I know I will use it and it will be on my wall forever. Its not gonna get put away in a box.

    I wanted to do this:

    https://www.etsy.com/listing/150510521/wedding-guestbook-alternative-mitjuju

Where every guest would get to write something into the heart.

FH wants to do a canvas of one of our e-pictures that everyone can write on. So, since I got to make a lot of decisions so far, we are going with the canvas idea... gotta give the FH a little bit of control Smiley winking

I'm planning on doing something like this. I want one that goes with our beach theme so I'm thinking of DIYing my own.

Here's the DIY link I found:

I want one of these (easy to take to Mexico, easy to bring back, easy to hang on the wall): http://www.signature-keepsakes.com/howitworks.htm

One of my couples bought a BIG bottle of Frexinet and had their guests sign it with metallic pens. I thought it was really cute!

I scrap, so we're having everyone sign scrapbook pages, but I have a friend who's doing this quilt: http://offbeatbride.com/2012/01/wedding-quilt-guest-book.

Im having people write down on little cards their wishes for our future, or their marriage advice for us, and its going in a "time capsule box" that we'll open on our 5 year anniversary.

I like the thumbprint on the tree idea, personally. My FH x-nayed it, I don't know if we will have one at all, but here's a link:

A friend just had their wedding, and their 'guest book' was pretty dang amazing.

They had a tree with blank branches and a single wood swing hanging down on a piece of paper. Guests walked up to a table where they could choose a huge variety of ink colors. You dip your finger in one and place it anywhere on any of the branches, then write your name over your fingerprint.

At the end of the ceremony, before the reception, the bride and groom choose their colors and place their fingerprints on the swing next to each other.

They had single packets of alcohol wipes for the guests, and now they get to frame this as a keepsake.

It was such an adorable idea!

I done a regular guestbook at the ceremony and a photo mat at the reception for those that came to the reception and not the wedding.. and also still had my guestbook at the reception also for those that wanted to sign both the guestbook and photo mat.. the photo mat was mainly for our guest to wish us luck or whatever they wanted to write on it and I framed it and hung it on our wall in the living room

We are doing quilt squares for people to write on, and then I will assemble them into our wedding quilt. (that's the idea so far, it may change!)
