Alternatives to a Guest Book?

Suzie, on November 2, 2013 at 8:13 PM

We are getting married next month and don't want to do a guest book (or one of those fingerprint trees). Any other ideas out there? It's a small wedding, about 15 guests - all family. Thank you!! Suzie

We're using those tree sections you can buy at craft stores (the ones with the bark around the edge) and having people sign those, back and front, and we'll veneer them and hang them up on the wall

That picture, with the signature matting, I did that for my engagement party.

Daughter made a photobook on Shutterfly using their engagement photos. There is even a specific format for a wedding guest book. She found a Groupon so it was relatively inexpensive. It seems as though everyone signed it and there was only one "drunk" note that was a little off but not inappropriate.

I saw on pintrest one where they had guests sign flat river rocks using a sharpie, and then it's displayed in a clear glass vase....I fell in love with the idea, since our first big trip together was a beach day where we collected rocks and seashells and glass ....so we will be doing that to display in our new homeSmiley smile

Since I'm a big candle freak , we are doing candle holders . I went to dollar tree and bought 2 cylinder vases with candle stick holders. I will eventually stick the candle holder under the vase to make a stand. I will have my guest just sign the vase with a metallic pen .

I know I will display around the house and I can always add a candle in the vase.

We're having a small wedding like yours (10 guests.) We're just going to record everyone making a video of wedding advice or something to us.

A close friend of mine used a jenga game, painted it her wedding colors, and had people sign in silver pens.. There was a sign that said something along the lines of " jot down some advice to help us navigate the puzzle of life.." I thought it was very cute and fun.. Just like them..

I really haven't found any guest book ideas that I like, but I want to have little cards at the tables- like advice notes, so could I just use those? If not, I like the river rock idea, and the signature mats.

Because you're getting married in December, like I did, you can perhaps have guests sign ornaments. We put ornaments at each table (about 70 people) and guests signed our purple and turquoise ornaments with a silver Sharpie. We put them on our tree when we got back home.

This isn't ours, but it's the general idea.

My hubbs plays the guitar. Something at the wedding should be about him right? LOL

We are doing the jenga idea. We are having lots of lawn games at our wedding - including a three foot high giant jenga that FH has made. It made sense to us that we would then have people sign our normal sized jenga that we bought whilst traveling in Asia.

Here's what I'm doing!! I ordered it off Etsy. It's pretty huge, about 2.5 feet tall which leaves plenty of room for our 150 guests to leave some love. We plan on hanging it on the wall after the wedding Smiley smile

Since DH use to build cabinets, he built a bench and we had everyone sign it. Now sits in our front hall and we walk by it everyday. Also when friends and family come to visit they can see it. We had 135 people at our wedding.

My sister framed up our invite with a wide mat. We had it on a table, with a selection of colored pencils (our invite featured stick figures cause 'when we met, we were drawn together'), then people signed around the invite. Then we slipped the glass in the frame,a nd now it hangs on our wall.

We are having a travel themed wedding and I purchased some vintage looking postcards from zazzle.com and I am having our guests write us a note on the back of the post card as our guest book and will slip them in a 4x6 photo album after the wedding.
