Alternatives to Bridal Shower??

on January 20, 2019 at 10:24 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 10
I’m want to have a bridal shower, but HATE the typical cheesy showers. I hate the idea of opening gifts in front of everyone and playing ridiculous games. Does anyone have any ideas?

I’m super awkward when opening gifts, so that’s not part of my shower. My mom put a cute little rhyme on the back of the invites “All the beautiful gifts will be put on display, so no need to wrap in any way. A ribbon or twine will do just fine, leaving us free to visit and dine!”

You can definitely also ask your hostess to avoid planning any games Smiley smile

The last shower I went to we all just ate and visited. It was more just like a get together. No dumb games and they didn’t open the presents. there were hard games if people wanted to play.

You could do it at a winery or somewhere similar where people can socialize rather than focus on games. I’m not a big game person myself so my mom is hosting at a winery where we will be outside in the vineyards. You could also do more of a couple showers so you and your future spouse are there sharing the spotlight.

Have a couples shower! That’s what we’re doing. I’m not keen on opening gifts in front of people and playing the cheesy games so we decided to do something where everyone can enjoy!

Yeah I should’ve mentioned, the one I was describing was a couples shower, not just bridal. That in itself tends to set more of a chill vibe I think.

I feel you on this. I told my stepmom who is hosting it I do not want any games and no brunch food. She happily agreed, so we’re doing a lunch at a restaurant.

You don't have to open gifts at a shower, that's for sure! Maybe just do a lunch? With no games? Or things like a photo booth or everyone writing down a date idea for the bride & groom, but no cheesy games?
