Alternatives to corsages?

Corinne_, on November 18, 2015 at 4:15 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 18

I hate the look of corsages, they look very prom-y to me (without actually ever having had a prom, but I guess movies influenced me). If you still want to make the MOB and the MOG feel special, what alternatives are there? I was thinking about something similar to boutonnieres, but I wouldn't want them to have to pin something to a pretty dress. What did you do?

Our florist actually did suggest the pin corsages, over the wrist ones, specifically because the latter looks dated! Naturally, my MIL didn't want to put it in her dress, though, so we added ribbon and tied it around her wrist, after all. She took it off pretty quickly, though. My mom was never able to get the pin corsage in right, so it kind of hung in a weird way -- she also took it off soon after the ceremony lol

ETA: We arrived late at the venue, and our florist also left early and never showed us how to properly pin them. It probably could have worked out better!

Magnet pins. I use them for work, no holes in clothes, placement anywhere, no dated look.

I gave them the option and they chose wrist corsage. I have also seen moms carrying small bouquets. Depending on your wedding and moms you could give them flower crowns Smiley winking

I did pin corsages and none of them cared about pinning it into there dresses. The wholes they make are so small that you can never tell afterwards. Here you can kind of see them on my mom and MIL.

I insisted that all our bouts & corsages were magnet, and every florist I talked to did it at the same price. Also, it's literally just two magnets, so you can DIY.

I'm gonna DIY flowers (Sola Flowers) and I just saw how to do it. Looks like a set of 12 magnets is only like $13.

Yeah, we did pin corsages (my mom said the same thing about them looking "prom-y". You could also give them a simple flower, or do a hair piece for them (I see someone suggested flower crowns). To make our moms feel special, I also made a banner that spelled out "Mama" and hung it on the back of their chairs. They loved them.

Well, we weren't going to do flowers for parents at all, but I had left over ones from our centerpieces and my cousin made them really fast on the day of the wedding. I think they liked them. They were small, but made a little statement.

I gave my mom nothing, she did a reading. I didn't even think about this to be honest

Emily- I don't think it's necessary. I didn't have any parents walk us down the aisle or participate in the wedding. I just wanted them there as guests, but my cousin was like "Oh we have left overs" I actually had pins and floral tape already, so ...there they are! haha

I'm not even sure yet if my mom will come, but FMIL is so excited about everything and she is doing our invites, so I definitely want to give her something to make her feel special.

I only did flowers for my BM. I didn't do them for parents or the GM. No one notice or cared.

It never occurred to me to do wrist corsages. We are doing all pinned flowers for people. Both mothers, FFIL long-time GF (cuz she'd be a bitch if we didn't include her), MOB ling time BF (cuz he's videoing for us), & our wedding coordinator (who is also FH's aunt). Ordering flowers wholesale, so the cost if these are pretty negligible.

I looked up the magnets and the company Bout Stix is what they use on the Bachelorette. They look really sturdy.
