Alternatives to ring bearer pillows

FutureMrsSmith, on March 21, 2015 at 3:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

We are having two ring bearers and I've been trying to look for alternatives to having them just carry pillows. I'm not totally in love with them carrying signs and I think the pillows are just a little old fashioned. I want something new and different, I just have no idea what that could be. Anybody have any creative ideas??

I bought a little wooden box from Michaels and painted it to match one of our wedding colours. I got a stencil and used that to write 'rings' on the top of the box, and bought thin lace to wrap about the side. Inside I got a styrofoam-like material and cut that to fit the inside of the box, made two little cuts into it and put both of our rings into those. Our ring bearer was only 2.5years at the time of our wedding so I wanted something different than a pillow that would hold the rings in place. In he knew that there was something 'inside' the box he was carrying he would have been trying to open it. The little box thing has a latch too which was comforting. In total it probably cost $5-6.

It was something along these lines: http://canada.michaels.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-MichaelsCanada-Site/default/Product-Show?pid=C_10308233

What about a ring bearer block? Here is a link to an example. Etsy has other sellers with different designs for a ring block.

We are using my late grandmother's Bible wrapped with burlap and lace with rings tied with jute twine.

Hmm... if the lad is trustworthy, you could use a short version of the type of hook used to hold hanging flowers in gardens. Tie the rings with a ribbon and loop the ribbon around the hook. The result would be something like a flag-bearer. The rings would be grandly displayed in a unique way.

We used a hollowed-out book (it was the same book he gave me my ring in).

I'm doing the little wooden box as well. However, inside are two silk flower that I sewed ribbon into the middle of, and the rings get tied to each flower.

Since our boys will just be there for show, (as will our FGs) we got them Build-A-Bears and personalized them with sounds saying "Thank you for being a part of our big day. We love you Noah. Love Aunt and Uncle." They're Spiderman and Batman bears and that way we don't have to worry about our rings.

Thanks everyone! We don't necessarily have a theme, just basically spring time, with bright colors. I do like the ring security idea, for the ladies that are doing that, do you still have them rent a tux to match the rest of the GM and then just some how put ring security on the back? I do like the small box idea also, they could each carry one and then just hand them to the BM after they walk down the aisle.
