Am I being too picky? (Ugly carpets in venue)

Ok, so I have been touring venues for the past few weeks. Today I went to a venue that was a good contender until I saw the carpets. My wedding colors are plum and orange, and the room has a vivid green carpet that I'm afraid will clash horribly. Here are some pics below. The first two pics are my color scheme, and the last pic is the carpet in the venue. Granted, I am still looking for venues, but the one other place that I really liked was stretching my budget ($6,000 just to rent the place, no catering or decor included) and this place is much cheaper. What do you think?

OMG the 6k place is gorgeous but that's cuz it's all done up if you don't have the budget for all the fixing it won't look as nice. I do think the carpet is pretty bad though in the cheaper option though. Keep looking?

As someone who ruled out pretty much all hotels for the same exact reason, I totally get it. The carpet is definitely not the best, but luckily you still have a couple other choices to look at. With that said, is it worth paying $6k and breaking your budget for the more expensive venue? Not at all. Hopefully one of the others works out well for you!

How much is the venue with the carpet?

Honestly if you're doing a dim room with uplighting, I doubt anyone will even notice.

The venue with the carpet is a hotel that offers free ballroom rental with at least $3,000 worth of catering. They also offered us a complimentary night stay in a suite after our wedding, and a few other perks. That's what I like about it, because that leaves more money free to do other things. Also, other than the carpet, it is a nice hotel and more modern because its only been built in the past two or three years, plus its right down the street from our church! Aside from the carpet, it's perfect.

I say go for it, the carpet alone should not be a make or break factor for a venue. It does sound lovely and like a great deal.

Don't have it somewhere that all your time and money will go to waste because the carpets will totally clash. But also be careful with the "stretching your budget" place. If you think its stretching your budget now...just wait till you start buying stuff and signing contracts. I got a place that is "stretching my budget" too for my reception venue. I don't regret it because I didn't have a ton of options in my area in July (too hot for outdoors) and it'll be beautiful, but I'm definitely making more sacrifices than I thought I would have to for my "dream venue."

Reading your update HeavenlyBride I think you should go for it. I don't know how far you are in your planning and don't shoot me for it if your hearts set on it but maybe you could consider changing the orange in your colour scheme to an olive or a mustard and it would clash a little less but still be autumn. I don't think it's worth doubling your up front spend for just rental at the other space.

We don't like the carpet of our venue, but the dance floor is big takes up most of the room. We have enough guest that the carpet will be mostly covered by tables. If you have enough tables, people probably won't notice the carpet.

Uh, I don't think that carpet is that bad, and I don't think it clashes with your colors. In fact, if you threw some green spider mums or cymbidiums into your flower scheme, it could pull in the green and look amazing. You could buy the place new carpet for 5k and still save money, lol. FWIW, my first career was in interior design and we did our share of event planning. Also, you are the only one who will notice the carpet, especially once the room is staged and low-lit.

Wow, what gorgeous venues. I was worried about that too.. I have always hated ballroom carpeting! Luckily there are really no hotels around me big enough to even consider using, so we went with an out of town venue & the floors are cement... It's a little weird, but it's not neutral you really don't notice.

I chose my venue specifically because it had a grey on grey carpet scheme and the others were all loud and ugly. We were told people won't notice, and they probably won't since I've never looked at the carpet during weddings I've been to, but I personally could not stand the bright colors.

We chose our venue based on location, food & what their package included. Their carpet was dated but it didn't cause me to go out of budget. We've been married almost a year and our guests are still giving us compliments about our wedding. They remember how great the food tasted, music made them dance the night away & the fun they had. No one mention anything about the carpet being dated. Also, our wedding photos are stunning & the carpet wasn't noticeable nor did it take away from our photos. Keep looking until you find the venue that fix your budget & meets all of your criteria. good luck

It sounds like the perfect venue aside from the carpeting, which no one including you will notice on the wedding day. I doubt you are going to find another place that is that nice at the price with the perks they are giving you. I think if you don't jump on this deal and they book up you will regret it. No venue is going to be perfect unless you build it yourself.

The venue we are using for our reception has old, nasty, puke green carpet and I am hoping and praying it gets replaced before our wedding but if not I will just have to deal with it LOL. That's a tough decision, though!

Nothing wrong with being picky . I've always ask myself do hotels get the ugly carpet on discount or something.

It's so funny that most venues have really weird carpet.

I am going to say that people won't notice. If someone does, they know you have no say in what carpet is on the floor. Search any of the chair cover threads posted. Most people will insist that no one is going to notice the chairs. If that is true, then no one is looking at the carpet.

I think once you have tables, chairs, and people in that room, the carpet will hardly be visible.
