Am I being too picky? (Ugly carpets in venue)

Ok, so I have been touring venues for the past few weeks. Today I went to a venue that was a good contender until I saw the carpets. My wedding colors are plum and orange, and the room has a vivid green carpet that I'm afraid will clash horribly. Here are some pics below. The first two pics are my color scheme, and the last pic is the carpet in the venue. Granted, I am still looking for venues, but the one other place that I really liked was stretching my budget ($6,000 just to rent the place, no catering or decor included) and this place is much cheaper. What do you think?

Yeaaa I don't know why venues do that!!! Like "hey guys we have a gorgeous venue..., let's just throw some ugly carpet to spice things up!!" Noooo! I'm so mad, my venue had beautiful oak wood floors and put a nasty ass carpet on it! But at least it has a neutral color and kinda matches the venue. Argh!!

Its not the nicest, but i think if thats the only thing wrong with the venue i would go with it. with mood lighting and everything going on i dont think guests would notice. its not worth going over budget. But! that other Venue is Gorgeous!!!!

I wasn't too keen on the carpet of my venue, either but I definitely didn't notice it the day of. Granted, it wasn't THAT big of an eyesore.

But honestly, everyone's eyes will be up. And the one time they're looking down, it'll be on the hardwood dance floor. I promise.

I honestly don't even think anyone will notice, like Celia said. Additionally, since it has yellow in it too, it won't totally clash. Your dance floor will cover part of it, as will the tables. I'd go the safer, less expensive route. It's still a nice venue, and I wouldn't consider the carpet to be ugly at all. It looks rather contemporary to me.

Take the ballroom! Nobody will notice the carpet. If the lights are dimmed, and they are at most receptions, nobody can see the carpet. I can't recall walking into a ballroom for anything and saying,

"wow what ugly carpeting!" The price alone is worth it. Get some uplighting and great centerpeice and tablescape going on, nobody will notice.

My venue has casino carpets in it, but if you have a lot of tables and white table cloths it won't be too obvious.

Thank you everyone, I really needed the honest opinions to keep everything in perspective. I definitely would rather have fab food, flowing drinks and beautiful décor at a cheaper venue than have the expensive venue but not be able to afford to actually decorate it the way I would want to.

I don't think I'd really notice or care about the ugly carpet after all of your decorations and people standing around during the reception.

Maybe add more greenery to your arrangements?

@ that price worth all those extras book it today. Lol. Seriously a free venue located close to your church and only a 3k minimum. You can't beat that.

Our venue has ugly green carpets too (kind of like the stuff in the picture Wendy posted). We're just taking the money we saved from not going with a nicer carpeted venue and putting it into the bar. That way our guests will get so drunk they won't notice the carpet.

    Problem. Solved.

There are amazing venues that have everything that are beautiful and will capture your day amazingly...but maybe they don't meet other needs...like the food sucks lol or something. Anyways. I just got done having a reception in space that wasn't exactly eye candy...it was fine but not like pinterest worthy. My guests did not care. They had a great time. The only person I think that minded was maybe me...

I agree with everyone else. I was really grossed out by all of the carpets at venues...I don't understand why they have such ugly ones. I found a place that didn't have horrible carpet but honestly no one would have noticed. I had so much uplighting and it makes a WORLD of a difference.

Our place doesn't have the carpet I want. but with the dance floor and all the tables and chairs we will have I honestly don't know if you will see much of it so I'm fine. No one cares about these details except for us. Going out of your budget for carpet isn't something you should think about it. Dim some of those lights and add uplights!! Uplighting will have people looking at your walls and your centerpieces will get the guests attention at the table. You'll be fine with the cheaper venue.

Update!! I toured a facility today that is absolutely gorgeous! It is a national historic building and it rents for 1/3 of the price of the $6k place and includes gold chiavari chairs complimentary (they're usually extra around here). The ballroom has hardwood floors (no ugly carpet), and the ceremony area is an auditorium that has tiered seating for guests. Pics belowSmiley smile

The ceremony area is carpeted, but I can deal with that color much better than the vivid green.

Very nice! So happy for you. It reminds me of our reception building which was the towns historical post office, now full-time event space. Your guests are going to love how different it is from the typical ballroom and all decorations are going to look great in that space.
