Amazon find—inexpensive, decent extensions

Sarah, on October 18, 2019 at 3:27 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 8
Hey all!

I went in for a trim recently and the person cutting my hair decided to take some.....artistic liberties. My 1/4-inch, “I’m trying to grow it out” trim turned into him lopping off 4-5 inches.

Naturally, I was devastated, and in a fit of pique ordered the ten dollar-est extensions I could find. I finally tried them out tonight and, lo and behold, they aren’t half bad?

I need to style my hair properly to blend them, and I need to baby powder them to take some of the synthetic shine out, neither of which I’ve done in the attached pic—all I did here was brush them out and snap them in.

If anyone’s looking for a little extra length or volume for their big day and doesn’t have $1k to drop on salon-installed extensions, these might do the trick!

They look great! The color matches perfectly. My only fear is how hard it is to curl/straighten synthetic extensions and how quickly those would wear.

Is your wedding not until April 2022? If so, you'll have plenty of time to grow your hair back. I had 19 months and my hair health & length improved SO MUCH because I put a ton of time & effort into it. I stopped doing any coloring/bleaching for 12 months, then found great hair stylist who could give me subtle highlights in a healthy way. I used Ovation Cell Therapy shampoo/conditioner/treatment everyday then mask once a week, slept on a silk pillowcase, bought "no pull" hair ties, stopped using my hair dryer nearly as much and when I had to use it, I used a good heat protect spray. Then I bought a high quality leave in conditioner to use after the shower, cleaned out all my hair brushes & threw away the old ones & bought new ones, and started taking biotin with collagen. The change was AMAZING and I'm so happy with my hair length & growth & color.

I still bought extensions to get that "pinterest hair" and they were human hair, they cost $260 for clip ins and are amazing from Milk & Blush.

I also found some inexpensive extensions on Amazon. I was looking for something affordable to use for my hair trial. I didn't want to spend $300 and end up hating it. So, I found these. They worked really well, and looked like my hair! Even my family was fooled! Those are the pros, and the only two cons were: I ordered 2 boxes, but only one came in time for the trial; and because they were tape-in extensions, I could really only wear my hair in a down style. The minute I tried putting my hair up (in a ponytail, clip), you could see some of the pieces of tape (underneath). That's only a mild con, as the whole point is to have long luxurious hair. But it was the middle of summer and I mostly go with up-dos because it's so hot!! But I'm still considering these less expensive kind for my wedding, because they worked great for the trial!

Oh girl thanks so much for the share! these are actually pretty amazing! I'm super impressed, especially for the price and the fact that they came from Amazon. When I got my first hair trial, I left in tears... it was so awful! I discussed getting extensions with them because I was worried I didn't have enough hair. The stylist told me they would be $800 and I was like no way!!! That's just insane. I ended up making an appointment with someone else for another trial (the owner actually) and was happy with the results. But i wish I knew about these then!!! Thank you Smiley smile they look pretty good in my opinion.

Agreed. Most people grow an average of 1/2 inch of hair a month so for a wedding more than 2 years away you have PLENTY of time to grow back 4-5 inches with regular trims in between to keep everything looking neat.

Thank you so much! You'll love them, it's so worth it. I got the biggest/longest ones after I emailed them pictures of my hair and they helped me color match!
