Before you say my wedding is a few months away.....

I have already had one shower and have another this weekend. We are registered at Amazon and Bed Bath and Beyond.

The BB&B registry has been blowing up and is probably already 40% purchased!!! But only one thing has been bought from my Amazon registry.

Most of my favorite registry items are on my Amazon registry but I'm concerned that people won't buy them.

Have you had this experience with your Amazon registry? Is there something about it that makes people not want to use it? Am I doing something wrong?

We have a website where both registries are listed.

I prefer to do all my shopping online because I don't like going into crowded stores. My mom would buy online too. I think it's just the person that is buying it.

The registry is there to serve your guests, to make it easier for them to select something for you and for you to not get duplicates. Although it seems like putting out a wish list and getting it fulfilled, it's not. With Amazon you have to pay shipping unless you are an Amazon prime member. Not everyone has or wants to set up an account. I often like to physically go into the store and see what they have there that is on the registry. People used our Macy's registry way more than our target one.

My friend who got married last Spring was registered at BB&B and Amazon, I purchased a gift from Amazon and it was super easy, had it shipped to my house and I gift wrapped it. So I don't think there is any type of user inconvenience there, I think it's as pp said, BB&B is a more traditional place to register and people might feel more comfortable doing that because it's familiar. I don't have a BB&B close to me and I'm a big online shopper though.

I think it's a personal preference or generational thing. I prefer online shopping so that would always be my choice! I'm sure people will make their way over there

Boxed gifts only for bridal showers, which is why people prefer BBB for that purpose. People will likely buy off Amazon for the wedding, especially if they have to travel since they can have Amazon directly deliver to you.

I don't get the concept of having multiple showers over three months before your wedding, but to each their own.

I HATE paying shipping. It annoys the hell out of me for some reason so I've always been turned off to online shopping if I can buy elsewhere.

I have a Macy's registry and an Amazon registry. I did that specifically because I know some people like to buy physical gifts, but a lot of people also have prime. Our wedding is in less than two weeks and both of our registries have almost everything bought. We kept them pretty small though. I just think it depends on your crowd. Worst case of you don't get something you really want, they give you a 10% discount after your wedding.

I personally would not buy an item off of the Amazon registry. For me, I like to physically shop whether it's for myself or someone else. Then you have to worry about shipping costs, damage in the mail, getting lost in the mail...i'd just rather run to BB&B and be done with it.

My guesses are people might not want to pay shipping, people want to buy in person, people are worried you wont be able to return an Amazon gift if need be.

And Lol at being "concerned" those gifts wont be bought.. geez.... You realize you cannnn buy them yourself if you really want them right?

Im going to advise to not worry so much about gifts. Trust people will want to give you something because they love you. Or they might not... its ok. This is the second or third time Ive seen a post from you being concered about your gifts. You know its not all about the presents, right?

I only say that because I remember you posted you were "annoyed" that people bought you Non-registry gifts at your shower. You seem a little too focused on what guests are purchasing

I have an amazon universal registry. I have added items from different stores and I combined my bbb registry so people only need to look at one list. With the amazon universal registry it actually says what store it's at. Also amazon if it's over 35 you get free shipping for prime items and there are thousands more who offer free shipping but it's not 2 day.

I'd rather walk into BB&B unless I've procrastinated. Gives me an excuse to shop for myself! lol

Hey girl! Not sure why people are getting their panties in a wad over your post but you didn't sound spoiled at all and it wasn't an unreasonable question. People just like to find things to bitch about. Unfortunately I'm not sure about the Amazon thing! I would say a lot of older people may not understand it since it's only online. I've never heard of an Amazon registry so I'm glad you said that- so many things on Amazon I love and so many options!!

Are your items amazon prime eligible? I tried to make sure most of our items are and most of our family has amazon prime accounts and get free shipping.

This is why I don't like registries. There is almost no way to discuss them without sounding gift grabby (in my opinion)- whether you mean to or not.

You can discuss them... its just that when you complain about them (more than once) and comment on being disappointed with what people bought you (more than once) on multiple threads... thennn you look gift-grabby

Cranky pants Sunday, over here at WW! I understand what you meant, OP.

For years, I thought Amazon was over whelming,. Up until last year.. I also think older generations may think the same!

Also when I think wedding registry.. Amazon isn't my first thought.

I would go to BBB and use a coupon, but that's just me.

Bought a wedding gift this week off someone's Target registry and it was a nightmare. Complete and utter nightmare. To top it off, Target didn't put our gift message or who the gift was from on it...it shipped with the name on my credit card.

Amazon is sooo much easier. I think people would only skip it if they didn't realize you had one, as I don't normally think of Amazon as a registry. We did one ourselves but used the Universal Registry.
