american airlines?

DFG2014, on October 13, 2014 at 5:37 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 21

I booked our honeymoon through the american airlines travel agency because they had great prices and a good insurance plan. however, i have never flown with them and am a little nervous.

what has your experience been with them?

and on the flights there they didn't have the option to pick seats so im worried we wont even be sitting together!

I HATE american airlines! I've flown with them once and we missed the original flight (our own fault). They put us on stand by without telling us so we waited around for about 6 hours not being able to get on two more flights. They basically treated us like we were annoyances to them and wanted us to go away. I would say you'll probably be fine if you don't miss your flight!

Oh no! i will definitely make sure we get there with plenty of time to spare! we do have a layover before the next flight so i hope it doesn't get delayed..

i usually try to fly southwest but they didn't really have what i was looking for!

I flew American Airlines when I came back from Europe ages ago. It sucked because of all the long flights CA--->DC, DC---> Europe, I had a mini television. Mind you I flew another airline out to Europe, I came back on American and they didn't have that luxury. It sucked, but for me as long as I get there in one place I can deal with the BS of everything else. I agree with Melissa, if you are on time you should be just fine.

My favorite airline is Hawaiian, from now on it will be the only way I go to Hawaii. Unfortunately for our HM we have to fly Alaskan and I'm not too happy, but oh well, I get a honeymoon!!

If you google every airline your going to find horror stories. American Airlines is good carrier. As far seats, go online and purchase seats together if your worried. I book air travel for groups. I always get "we are not sitting together scenario. " You can check online once week to see if any free seats have open up together or purchase seats together. Airlines don't make it easy for the travel agency nor the customer they want your $$.

If you normally do fine with southwest American Airlines is at the same quality if not a little better

I fly American 2-3 times a month and have had good success with them. As PP mentioned, call them and ask to be seated together. I've had lousy experiences and wonderful experiences on all of the major carriers. Just remember that the gate agent is your friend. I don't care how crappy things are going, smiling and being as pleasant as possible will always get you the best results. Have fun!

I refuse to fly them. We flew them home from our honeymoon and they didn't announce any boarding announcements or anything so several passengers including us almost missed the flight, then once on the flight, the stupid bitches would't even give me water after I was done puking in the bathroom and acted like I was interrupting their gossiping and bubble gum smacking soiree. Most terrible airline ever in business. Worst service, worst seats, worst service, worst everything.

    NEVER AGAIN. EVER.

They are all bad, except for maybe Southwest (my only grievance with Southwest is that you don't get to pick your seat - we had to finagle seats together to and from Mexico for our wedding!). I've flown a lot and each airline has its issues.

I've only flown AA to and from Europe, because they are partners with Alaska and I love Alaska and usually only fly them or their partners. I thought they did a great job and were great to us each time we went.

Everyone has an opinion and a horror story somewhere from some airline. I hate southwest and united from horror stories I have flying them but as you can see above, some girls wouldn't agree with me, same with my preference for Alaska. Eh. I'm sure you'll be fine on American though!

I always fly US air and AA just bought out USAir. I didn't notice any changes for our HM. We booked ourselves though. We did first class for our HM. I don't know if I will ever want to fly coach again!

Gamecox, you will NEVER want to fly coach again LOL. Every time you do after these flights, you're going to remember how nice it is to be up front!

    Sigh....memories.

Seriously, I might be willing to eat Ramen noodles so I can fly first class for the rest of my life.

DFG2014 - American bought US air not united.

Anyways, I am a us airways card holder. I fly them all te time. However my honeymoon flights were through American and their seats we so much nicer on the plane I was on than on US. I actually can't wait for us to become American so they can get better planes.

However, if your flight is long BRING SNACKS. they ONLY serve drinks unlike southwest who still gives pretzels and stuff. American and US air require you to buy chips and stuff on the plane if you're hungry.

Trust me, I didn't know either (I haven't flown realy long in a while) our flight from Dallas to maui was like 8 hours....I ended up buying a "cheese platter" that consisted of 4 slices of cheese, 4 crackers, one little bag of diamond almonds...and like 6 grapes.... For $9
