Anime/geek Processional, Recessional, and Ceremony Recommendations?

Hello! I get married at the end of May and my fiance and I are thinking about music. It's the one area where he perks up and is excited to have a personal twist on the ceremony. We're anime fans, and overall geeky. I'm really into the old classic anime series from the 90's to very early 2000's (Sailor Moon, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Utena, FLCL as an example). I'm focusing on instrumental, upbeat songs to keep it subtle, but I used to live in Japan so those are the ceremony/reception wouldn't bat an eye if there was a song playing in Japanese.

I have a question about the "feeling" of the music for the processional and recessional part of the ceremony. I am trying to work an instrumental song from the Sailor Moon 25th Anniversary Orchestral CD set into the recessional... but can't pin down a "feeling" from the song I'm looking for -- I also can't really find any good examples of a recessional with instrumental pieces to get inspiration from...

    So much fun! We're doing a traditional ceremony but anime music for cocktail hour and dinner. Are you into final fantasy? The distant worlds collections have so many great and subtle songs. I can't remember which ones but when I was going through them I definitely pictured some as a grand entrance or recessional.

    I plan on walking down to "Nagisa" from CLANNAD! I love anime myself (especially romance! Nana, CLANNAD, Fushigi Yuugi, Sailor Moon...), and I think these will all be awesome to use!
    I thought with the first dance with FH we would do "Brand New Breeze" from La Corda D'oro, but I figured people would be like "How can we understand the song?" So, we're doing a Yanni instrumental instead!

    I can't believe someone else knows Nana!! I LOVE that anime and bought the manga to continue the story hoping the writer would actually finish it 😌. But no one else seems to know about it!

    I'm not kidding, I watch it religiously! I also read the whole manga series so far, but I've been sad that it's been on hiatus because the author's been in the hospital. I remember seeing an article about how she's going to continue it, and she released a piece of artwork of Hachi and Nana as older adults! I was like Smiley surprise Smiley xd I have Nana wall scrolls and whatnot, and my avatar on here is Hachi and Nobu!

    Me too! I watch it all the time! Then I listen to the songs because I am addicted to BLAST lol. I've been biting my nails over the whole unfinished story situation. I HAVE to read the end!!

    This thread made me soooooo happy!! All these great animes and songs. FH and I both love anime, video games, books, American comics, Japanese manga, etc - in fact we're having an art deco nerdy theme with some of our favorites incorporated into our wedding. Sailor Moon was (of course) my first love for anime. I definitely wanted to use an instrumental version of Moonlight Densetsu at some point (perhaps while everyone was getting seated). I'm planning on using "Say Yes" from The Familiar of Zero (Zero No Tsukaima) as part of therecreational. I'm so excited. Smiley smile This thread made me so happy!!

    I was so glad to find this because I had all the same questions and were having a anime mixed with camping inspired wedding at a beautiful lodge in the woods in October (we truly both loved the anime laid back camp and it made us fall in love with fall camping so it felt right to mix both!!) but we are choosing our ceremony music to at least have songs from Kiki’s Delivery Service and Princess Mononoke.
