Do if able, I hate not having enough food on hand for gatherings, therefore the primary concern was making sure guests got the flavor they wanted (top and bottom tier chocolate, middle white cake). If able to save the top great, if not nbd.

This one is a ditch. The cake would not make it to our anniversary with my FH in the house 🙄

I'm not actually sure..... we live in Europe so we clearly couldn't take it back and I don't know that we'd be back for our anniversary to visit my parents the next summer lol. I hadn't even thought about this so good call.

We're doing a top tier to cut. The baker asked if we wanted her to make another one and box it up for us to save but we told her we'd contact her in a year and ask her to make another one. lol I get the tradition behind it but year old cake doesn't appeal to me.

Doing! I think this is so special to keep as a reminder of your special day, and as a way to celebrate the first of (hopefully!) many, many anniversaries.

We didn't want the top tier, but the caterer ended up giving it to us. That being said we ate that tier between our wedding and honeymoon simply because our cake vendor will bake us the top tier for our one year anniversary.

"Do" i know it sounds nasty but it think its kinda fun and my best friend is making the cake so, she will wrap it right so it doesnt get nasty. plus all cakes from store are frozen over years before you even get them, so its pretty much just like getting a cake from walmart.

I was contemplating whether to do this or not but after reading all these comments with persons saying that the cake was gross.... sooo I think i might ditch it too.

We kept the top layer and ate a bit on our honeymoon, which was a day after our wedding. My aunt sat on the cake en route from the wedding venue back to the hotel. Still tasted delish.

We have not decided. We're doing a small, couple's cake for cutting... so I don't believe there will be tiers. If we do save it, there will be a slice taken out of it. haha

I think we will have someone freeze our cake but I've heard of people eating it at their one month anniversary and then ordering another cake for the 1 year. We will have to see. We live so far from our baker that it could be tricky!

Ditch. Everyone I ever talked to says that the cake is inedible after a year in the freezer. I haven't ordered my cake yet, but if the vendor offers to make us one for our anniversary, I'll definitely take them up on that.

I had never heard of this before website forums. And I worked catering and did cakes for many. We had a few small cakes, mostly other desserts. But I wouldn't eat any cake stuck in the freezer between the chicken and the deer meat for a year. Gross!
