Our bakery offers to make you one on your anniv for free. We will go to the bakery on our anniversary and eat some cake. Keeping it in the freezer for a year does NOT taste good.

Ditch, freezer burned cake does not sound good. I love baking, it's my side hobby so I'll most likely bake my own version of our wedding cake for our 1st anniversary.

We're not having a traditional cake so we'll be ditching this. Maybe we'll go to a bakery in town and get ourselves a fresh cake for our anniversary.

Yes definitely keep this tradition! IT's a sweet thing to do and something to look forward to on your 1st anniversary. My baker actually made us an entirely separate cake that was a replica of the top tier of our wedding cake. She brought that to the wedding and did it so we could use our entire wedding cake to feed our guests but still have an anniversary cake. For some people, this isn't feasible. And in that case, i like the idea of having a replica cake made on yoru anniversary.

So we’re not doing a traditional wedding cake, but instead having a friend make cream cheese pound cakes, which I already know from experience freeze really well. And if all else fades, I can easily ask her to make us another one the following year.

Does cake (or everything for that matter) even last that long? We are going to pass on this one. Even if FH wants to take our dinner dessert home for this, I know we wont eat it a year later.

The cake place is making a 3 tier cake and making us a separate cake for us for the year.

I personally with my stomach issue I’m not sure about freezing a cake for a year to eat. 😂

We’ll be going back to our favorite bakery to order a smaller one for our anniversary.

Pass. I don't personally get why anyone would want to knowingly eat stale food. I reckon this makes more sense if you have a fruitcake, as they are rich and heavy and last a long time.

Cake is nasty when it has been frozen for any period time: a day or a year. It loses flavor and gets a weird texture on top of that. We're planning to eat the cake right away (take it to the hotel afterward maybe?). Many bakers offer a free or discounted replica on the first anniversary. Find out if they offer it.

We did. I made sure to wrap it and seal it good and put it in the freezer. I took it out the day before to thaw in fridge and when I unwrapped it, it looked just as good as it did on our wedding day. It was also still moist and tasted good. Anniversary Cake - Do or Ditch? 1

The top of the cake may be going with us on our honeymoon. The destination is about 5 hours away 😂.

Ditching. I don't believe we are capable of leaving a cake alone for 12 months... Unless we sent it to England with my mother. 😂

I would never eat frozen year old and no one we know has either. Most bakeries offer a free anniversary cake. Save the top tier to eat in your wedding night hotel.
