Anniversary tattoo

So I have a question. If you were to get a tattoo of your anniversary date (and lets say your anniversary date from when you were dating is the same day as your wedding day) would you get the tattoo of the year you got married or the year you first got together?


Ive been looking up tattoo ideas what I want is DHs name with our date in roman numerals which is June 4th but it looks a little weird to have the Roman numerals without the year (which would be VI.IV) We started dating in 2006, wedding year is 2020. So it would be either : VI.IV.MMVI or VI.IV.MMXX
Im a little weird, im kind of particular about the way things look and Idk if i like the Xs together. But at the same time it is our official wedding date. I already have a tattoo of his nickname which I really hate loll. I got it when i was 17 and I really do regret it so I want a new one that Im proud of and happy to show off.

    I like the XX together. It looks official. I would tattoo my wedding date on me if I was going to get a tattoo. Not when we started dating. But that’s just my PO. Good luck!

    I think the wedding date is more official and a bigger deal so that’s what I would choose.

    Personally, I would get someone's name or my wedding date as a tattoo because what happens if you were to break up? But if you really want to then I would get your wedding date.

    I understand that, but we have been together 14 years and I dont think either of us are going anywhere. My last tattoo of his nickname is my regret tattoo only because of how big it is, its location and I feel its ugly, and I never call him by his nickname. No one can see it and I would like to eventually cover it up or get it removed. So I wanted something else that I am actually happy about and that can actually be seen. God forbid if something happens to our relationship I will get both of them covered up.

    Our original anniversary is more important to me, personally. I don't believe length of the marriage outweighs the length of the relationship. However, you could always use both dates. If you find a skilled tattoo artist, they will know how to creatively incorporate both dates tastefully.

    Yay! For us the 4th is important (we say happy 4th every month lol) so our original wedding date was April 4th but that got canceled Im so glad we were able to do it on our actual anniversary date on June 4th, even though it wouldn’t be the end of the world if we couldn’t have, just would’ve been a big bummer. Our church ceremony is postponed to a few days before my birthday and if we would have waited I kind of didn’t want a yearly anniversary birthday celebration lol

    I totally understand! FH is filled with tattoos and I have 3. So we want to get our wedding date in Roman numerals. Initially it was 10/10/20 which looked nice and balanced as X.X.MMXX. But after postponing to 10/2/21, it’s not as nice looking as X.II.MXXI. However, we’ll still get it done, of course . But in your case, I actually like just the VI.IV because it looks uniform and the date has 2 meanings. So it makes it a conversation piece too. Or you could also put the VI.IV in the middle with MMVI on top and MMXX underneath.

    Yes thats exactly why I kind of wanted 6/4 because no matter what year Thats our day. DH has my name on his chest and he has a lot more tattoos on his arms. This will be my 3rd tattoo. Lol glad someone else understands the visual pickiness of it lol

    I want to get a sunflower (my favorite and our wedding flower) with our wedding date because sunflowers make me super happy, and our wedding date is also our 4.5 year anniversary, so the date is special for both!

    I'd probably do wedding date.

    My husband messes up our first date date (he knows the general time of year down to the week but the actual day he doesn't remember) but knows the actual date of our wedding without any reminders or prompting. Plus I've had a number of first dates but only one wedding date, so that's the one that is extra special to me.

    Aw thats nice he remembers lol. I will probably end up going with wedding date when I get it done. I think i have a pretty good idea of what I want now.
