But of course the dress is for you to like 😉 However, I do see that the corset comes way too far into your rear end (unlike the photo). So if that stopped a little higher, I think it would help. I also like how the sketch has a thinner satin band across the higher part of the waist. Sometimes it’s more flattering to have something thinner across the waist to give a more cinched appearance. Also the perfect bra and undergarments can change the overall fit.


But either way, best wishes in finding a new dress or altering this one! Thankfully you have time.

I agree that you should get a refund. Your dress has some pretty elements, but if you try to alter it, you could have an alterations disaster on your hands. I’m sorry for your disappointment. That really stinks.

I agree and think that you need to pursue a refund at this point and look elsewhere. The sketch was beautiful but I agree that the actual dress has some definite issues. Good luck finding a new dress!

What a bummer!! I knew how excited you were to finally get this dress. But you're right - it's not doing you any favors, and it doesn't fit properly. The front lace is not great. The back looks... I don't even want to say. I don't think alterations would help at all. Your instinct to get a refund and start over seem to be on point. Follow those instincts. You can still find the dress of your dreams!

I'm so sorry Jasmine. I was thinking of going with them to design a dress but decided against it and felt like seeing a dress in person is better for me. Some have a great experience and get what they want and others it doesn't work out for them. I didn't want to take the risk with something that is a lot of money as well as needing and wanting all the feels of trying on a dress (no matter how many I try on) and finding "the one". Thankfully you have time to look for something else. Truly sorry you have to start dress shopping all over again.

Thanks. I greatly appreciate it. The only reason I even decided to go with them is because I was having issues at the time finding a dress in store and it was a guaranteed refund, which they've already told me I'm getting once I return the dress. Since so much time has gone by since I last checked in store, I'm hoping for the best this time around! I refuse to waste more time and money on customization.

Like someone else said, great idea, poor execution.

Open your mind to trying different styles. Sometimes ours bodies and minds don't agree, you know? Our minds love one style, but another might be more suitable to our body type. You might be surprised what looks good on you!

Also with a mermaid/trumpet shape, you need a slip with crinoline at the bottom to accentuate the shape. I had my fitting yesterday and they showed me the difference between wearing it with a little something under the dress vs. not and I ended up adding the trumpet slip with a bit of crinoline. I'm pretty straight up and down in shape and I actually look like I have curves/hips in the dress now!
