Anomalie vs Traditional Shopping

Leanna, on April 11, 2020 at 3:34 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 7
Hi everyone!
So I’ve been a couple bridal shops before this whole COVID-19 business started (my thoughts go out to anyone struggling with big decisions of postponing and/ or canceling your big day☹️. I hope it works out!) and I had a couple disheartening experiences. My sister showed me the website Anomalie. You make your own custom gown. They say it’s more affordable that the bridal shop markup. Has anyone tried this/done it?

I purchased my ceremony dress at a boutique but got my reception dress with Anomalie. Loved the entire design process and have heard that alterations are a given for every dress, so it's important not to expect perfection out of the box. If anything, it's really fun brainstorming what you want and having someone help that vision come to life! They have a Pinterest-like "lookbook" that you and your stylist post things to after your consultation and then the details get tweaked along the way. Eventually you're sent a box with samples of tulle and fabric. They're really honest up front about what is feasible and what isn't, so the consultation call is worth it! You'll get an idea from there if you feel confident moving forward with them or not. Great company though and I'm excited to support a female-owned and operated start up.

Here is an entire blog post about two brides that designed their gowns with Anomalie. They do a step my step walk through of their entire process. It is pretty informative.

Hi Leanna! I got my dress from Anomalie. I did still go over my budget with Anomalie, but it's definitely more affordable than some of the bridal salons. My initial budget was $2,000. When I did my design consult, I had them price out the absolute perfect scenario which got me to $2,100 for the dress, $900 for an over skirt, and $125 for a custom veil to be embellished to match my dress. The dress was based on a combo of Zuhair Murad and Hayley Paige dresses which retail for $8k and $4k respectively. With that said, it's worth having the design consult for sure if you know what you want and are looking for a more affordable way tot get it.

I did..and I just sent it back today. It wasnt what I asked for..however the quality was top notch!! I literally had to have someone help me carry the box..lol..make sure you're very very very almost obnoxiously straight forward with them and make sure that 10000% understand what you want. Luckily I will be getting 100% of my dress cost returned to me. I don't think they do 100% refunds anymore. If my wedding was still in June of this year..I wouldve been SOL. it's now may 2021 so I have a little time to fond something different

I’m back! Received my Anomalie dress. It’s beautiful quality and color. The fit is off. This is my reception dress and it’s a little too short...there’s about an inch or two of wiggle room that I’ll have my seamstress pull out for me. And then the bust area is a bit big.

All in all, the quality is great. I would 100% recommend counting on alterations being inevitable though. Good luck!

Hi! Thanks for commenting back! I’m in the process now of designing. I have picked a fab ice and now am struggling with lace options. It’s been good so far. I’m almost done paying my invoice so my dress will go in production in June of July. May I ask what the production phase was like? I’m really excited to get the finished product. You make me feel like all the deciding and agonizing will be worth it lol!

So exciting!! The design phase was my favorite. During the production phase, they email you every once in a while to let you know where your dress is at/what’s happening. It’s fun, but lots of anticipation! When I learned my dress had shipped I was SO eager. I was so pleased with how things worked out and I know it’ll be awesome. What’s your design like?!
