Another One: Ideas to Prevent Muddy Shoes?

MrsC, on June 25, 2013 at 11:28 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 2

Y'all are on a roll today so I'm taking advantage. :-)

We are having an outdoor wedding - grass field and all. If it rains the day before or the day of we will have a mud hazard. Anyone ever put down, or have an idea for something to put down, to prevent mud in a tent?

You could put a wooden dance floor with door mats around the outside to keep mud from being tracked in.

Definitely have dealt with this. A farm wedding....in Oregon in the spring!!! First there was a wooden dance floor, which was very helpful. However if you have not done flooring for the whole tent then the mud is just going to get tracked in. What we did was stretch and secure plastic runners (like the plastic floor coverings you buy when you are painting your home)around the outside edge of the dance floor. Then we stretched and secured colored fabric (in the colors of the wedding) around the interior edge of the dance floor. What this did was provide a place for people to take their shoes off and deposit them (the plastic runner) and then step with their stockinged feet onto the fabric. It kept people from having to stand in their socks on wet ground and it kept the mud off the dance floor. For the women it was great, as most women end up barefoot at weddings anyway!!!
