Another Tanning Question...

Kelsie, on August 6, 2019 at 4:14 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 3

So I'm trying my hardest to find a place to do airbrush spray tanning and planning to go two days before my wedding. But unfortunately the only place I have found in my area doesn't have very good reviews, customer service wise anyway. I'm planning on asking around to see if anyone I know has gotten one around here.

I originally booked my mani/pedi appointment for the Friday before, in the morning - not even taking into account that this should probably be done before a spray tan. So now the only appointment they have is 2 p.m. on Thursday, and I have a hair appointment that night that can't be moved starting at 5 p.m. So this gives me maybe an hour between my nail and my hair appointment to run and get my spray tan.

So now my question: Since a booth spray tan my be my only alternative if I can't find another place, has anyone else gotten a booth spray tan before their big day and had issues with it rubbing off?

I have gotten booth spray tans before and had no problems with them at all, but I wasn't wearing white so I am worried about it rubbing off in/on my dress since it's hot as heck in the South.

I would be concerned getting a spray tan right before getting my hair done.. chance of getting my face/ neck wet and the heat from the blow drier messing with the tan. Check in with your hair stylist or tanning staff about their thoughts on this.

Or push nails and spray tan to Thursday. Nails should hold up fine if they were gel or similar.

Have you thought about doing a few tanning bed sessions before the wedding?

Spray tans are just fine! Don't stress out about it, keep the solution on for the time allotted (usually 8 hours) and then wash off. One cool little fact I learned while air brush tanning is solutions work with personal PH's....the solution will only allow you to get as dark as you can normally in the sun. You will look super dark right after, but it will wash off to be beautiful the next morning. And....just to get back to your original question, the only rubbing off I had on my dress was on the inside, and some slight areas in the arm pits. It was incredibly hot though, I was also a dance machine. I am surprised I did not have more color on my dress!

    Hey Kelsie!

As you will be rinsing the residue tan off the morning after your spray tan, I don’t think that you will get much transfer onto your dress at all. As Martelle mentioned, you may have a small around the armpits and the inside, but you definitely won’t end up ruining your dress! I recently got a spray tan and wore a pale blue dress for an event but the only transfer was on the inside of the dress.

If this is the only order of appointments that you can get, then it should be ok. I would definitely recommend you letting your hairstylist know that you have a fresh spray tan so that they will be aware to be super careful about getting your face and neck wet!
