Anxious About August

Hello all!

So our third attempt at getting married will be on August 1, 2021. Our venue has been closed since November with no signs of reopening anytime soon. Has anybody here heard of or attended a wedding since the pandemic? I’m curious to see how dancing and mingling is occurring with social distancing. I know that even when our venue reopened for a period last year that wedding were strictly limited to 50 people for a dinner and ceremony only.

I want to be optimistic, but I have a feeling that things will be similar for Illinois over the summer for weddings with maybe a little bit of improvement. I am seriously considering planning a backyard wedding alternative at my fiancé’s family home in Wisconsin, but we are on a tight budget and don’t want to have the venue and its costs still hanging over our heads to postpone again. Anybody in a similar situation? Looking for guidance.

I live in Illinois also. I am trying to be optimistic and hopeful that things will start getting better soon. However, seeing as how Illinois has consistently been one of the highest infection rate states since the very beginning, and is also one of the stricter states when it comes to mandates, it’s hard telling what weddings are going to look like this year. Dancing at weddings has been prohibited for quite awhile now, and I’m honestly not sure if that will change by this summer. We chose not to attend the 3 weddings we were invited to during 2020, but all 3 of them had to have social distancing in place, guests had to wear masks, and buffets were forbidden during the reception, as was dancing. Hopefully things will start getting better this year. But, if you are set on having your wedding this summer, it would probably be wise to have backup plans in place.
