I don't know what to do!!!

Our August 8th wedding is on for the moment, but I keep having a battle internally about holding onto hope or jumping the gun and postponing while it's early. We have a back up date at our venue of Sept 25th, 2021. If we do postpone until next year, FH and I will have a wedding ceremony with our immediate family on our original date, and have a vow renewal next year with our big reception.

All of our family members think we should be fine by August and they're telling us to keep going forward. We haven't send out invitations yet (which should've been done last month). I would just hate to send out the invitations and then cancel the wedding (and eat the cost of postage!)

Are any other August brides holding onto hope?

Our wedding is August 2nd.... we live in Virginia but have planned on a Florida destination wedding. Our VRBO/wedding venue needs the final deposit June 3rd so we have to make a decision soon. His family wants to go and my family is concerned about flying and being in a group of people. I am so stressed trying to make a decision. Our wedding was only going to be 40-50 people. But the last thing I want is for people to be uncomfortable. Our back up plan is to get married in VA with our families (which still need to travel but they would be able to drive). We will be losing so much money... so considering postponing the reception till next summer. There is so much unknown. And everyone feels differently about the virus. Don’t think we can make everyone happy with our choice either way. Smiley sad

I've come to that same conclusion- I think my FH and I need to do what we think is the best decision for us and stop asking for every else's opinion. If we weight out the pros and cons of each date, and decide what would make us happier, that will make the decision easier and less stressful.

I feel you! We had an August 8th wedding planned too (in Massachusetts) and we were going strong until we heard from our venue yesterday, and we were strongly encouraged to postpone to September 2021. Before that, we put a hold on invites since we were afraid to spend the money. Once we heard the venue was no longer really anticipating August weddings to take place, we felt a big weight lift off us and we just went with what our gut was telling us and postponed. But up until that point, we were so lost on how to proceed and were still trying to plan for both options. We are now still doing a small ceremony on August 8th and will have the larger event next September. Wishing you the best!

August 16th here in SoCal! I am still hopeful, but turning doubtful at the same time. We have a small guest count of 50, which I'm thinking may be doable by mid-Aug (Our county just entered Stage 2 of re-opening, and by Stage 3 weddings are allowed I believe). I just wouldn't want everyone to feel uncomfortable/worried, wearing masks, social distancing, etc. at a time we should all be closely celebrating. I really don't want to postpone though. We're planning on cutting the guest list shorter first, if we have to - and if that still isn't allowed, then we'll still get married and postpone the celebration.
