Any brides who are planning their own bachelorette?

Aileen, on March 24, 2022 at 12:13 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 6

Hey brides! Just wondering if anyone was in a situation where they ended having to plan their bachelorette themselves?

My MOH and bridesmaids are great support system but planning things aren’t really their forte. I don’t mind planning it myself because at least I know I will really like the plans.

My MOH is doing most of the booking, but I've been in a lot of communication with her about things to do and such.

I am planning one of my bridal showers (well it's a bridal brunch), because it's back in my home state so I wanted to be involved to make sure if anyone bought a gift, it was shipped to my house, instead of me trying to find a way to get it back to where I currently live somehow.

I planned my own bach in January. Once I planned most things, I delegated small tasks to bridesmaids (like getting the snacks, bringing some games, etc) That way they were still involved and I wasn't completely hosting

I planned my own, mostly. My MOH was my sister who was coming from out of town the week before the wedding. I had no other bridesmaids. Her and I decided to have a small house party with my closest girl friends. I set the guest list, made invitations, and coordinated with everyone. My sister got the house ready; bought snacks, alcohol, and mixers; and was the host once my friends started to show up. The guests also brought some snacks and alcohol to share, per request on the invite. My sister covered the cost of ordering Chinese takeout as well. It was low stress, fun, and ended up exactly how I wanted it to be!

Not me, but my husband planned his own bachelor party. Well, shadow planned. It became clear his best man was procrastinating on planning anything, my husband used me and our friend/ another groomsman to drop hints lol. Having me say things like "oh hey, [husband] was talking about how he hasn't done an escape room yet, maybe if the bachelor party has time, that would be a fun surprise!"

Or straight up finding the Airbnb for the group and having our friend act like he found it, lol.
Personally, I feel like there should be no shame in planning your own party. You want to do something to actually like, and I actually hate surprises, so I got my maid of honor to tell me what was all happening like a week before lol

I tried to plan my own and got shut down 😅 My MOH really loves planning though, so it makes sense. I think lots of brides either end up planning their own, or having another bridesmaid/friend step up and plan it! You're definitely not alone!

Yep I’m doing mine all on my own! My opinions matter the most and I love to plan.

I also do not want to even set up any type of scenario to be disappointed by anyone so.. I’m planning mine right now!
