I'm very fortunate in that my dress is being custom made by my mom, who is an amazing seamstress and used to recreate couture gowns for clients when I was little. She's in the process of making it now (from the other side of the country so its been a LOT of FaceTime and shipping muslin pieces back and forth to try on!) but I'll definitely post once I wear it.

It has an antique white under dress, but is being completely covered in black lace and black silk chiffon so it's going to look very smokey. Certainly not traditional, but given that my wardrobe is 99% black... it just works!

I don't know about weird but i feel like people think i overly compromised on my vision. look at the end of the day i got what i wanted - the type of food, a photobooth, etc. so i didn't really care that the details weren't exactly to my vision like having mason jars instead of fish bowls as centerpieces. i think once you plan a wedding you kind of realize there are some really core things you absolutely must have and then there's stuff that is optional after

Agreed! I did this too and put the woman's name first. I find it so weird when woman are addressed by their husband's name.

People think it's weird that we have 5 people on his side, two of which are woman, and 3 on my side. Some people asked why we didn't move one of his female friends to my side to make it even...and well...she's not my friend (well she is, but because I met her through my fiance) and my fiance wants her to stand by his side. Sides don't have to be even and they don't have to be all one gender.

Our entire wedding was "weird" and we got some questions.

1. No cocktail hour and we didn't serve alcohol.

2. 2pm start time on a Friday afternoon.

3. No DJ/ dancing

4. Short meet and great style brunch reception.

To be honest most of these were due to budget constraints but it was nice anyway. Wham, bham and over. We aren't partiers and all we really wanted to do was go to our hotel and lay in the jacuzzi.

We didn't hire a wedding planner, and my family things I'm crazy to do it all myself. Or....they are afraid I'm going to come back asking them for help I guess hahaha. We used the online Wedding Generator, which was a questionnaire that helped me figure out a detailed day-of timeline, and gave me a vendor checklist based on what I would need from my vendors when I answered the questions. Super helpful, and it's done the job well! I think I can do it myself...I think I can, haha

I do not think the Man of Honor is strange. My best friend is a guy and he is my Man of Honor. And my husband best friend is a girl. And she is going to be his best Man. We also are super good friends with a female couple. We have both of them in the wedding party as well. One is on my side and one is on his side.
