Any fair skinned brides- white or ivory?

I'm very pale and I looked good in white. Picture is of my junior prom

I am fair skinned and I chose to go with ivory over white.

So many different opinions. I feel like partly why fair skinned girl feel like they have to go with ivory is because David's Bridal staff is trained to tell people that. They kept telling me to go with champagne even though I didn't like the look of it at all. I found a picture of me in ivory so I'll put that on here.. the pictures of me in white are farther up in the thread.

I went with ivory - I don't think I even tried on a white dress.

I can't wear white because it washing me out so ivory for me.

I'm the palest person I know besides my family. I got my dress in ivory.

NotFroofy and I are both fair-skinned, and thought we looked better in ivory than in white.

I am fair skinned mine is ivory but I didn't catch that right off. I did look fine though in white.

I'm fair skinned and my mom was convinced that I should get ivory but I loved just being in a traditional white dress so I'm doing white. Half the bridal shops I went to said with fair skin I should do ivory, the other half said fair skin looks good in white. Some said that my dark hair makes me look better in white though. I think personally white actually makes me look a little better because there's a higher contrast between my skin and white than my skin and ivory so I look a little tanner in white. The other thing that pissed me off is that people kept saying "white ends up looking blue in pictures", well if you get the right photographer then your dress should look white, if it looks blue then it's a problem with the photographer. I think you should go with white if that's what you want and I'm sure it'll look great!

I'm very fair skinned and my dress is ivory (but looks white). Really, it's what you think looks best. True they say pure white will wash you out, but you were there and you tried it on. If you loved how it looked, then you should get it!

In all honesty, unless you tell me your dress is white I sincerely never notice the difference between ivory and white.

Ivory for me... a light tan also when it comes to my bridals and the big day itself.

I'm super pasty. I went with white and I think it worked out ok.

I'm just going to say - if you think that tanning beforehand will help you with the sun on your honeymoon...it won't. Not only is tanning just as harmful to your skin as a burn (you're still burning your skin after all), but it does not protect you at all from getting a sunburn. You can still burn while tanned.

Also DB didn't push an ivory dress on me. I already knew what looks good on me in terms of colors, and I had tried on white dresses as well. White was not flattering on me at all. Ivory was much less harsh and it complemented my coloring nicely.

I actually have pics of me in my dress AND the sample dress. The sample pics are white, mine is ivory. The first is of my actual dress, second is of the white one.

Edit to say: I realize that in the pics they don't look that much different: they really didn't in person, either to be honest, but the detailing on the ivory one stood out MUCH more than the white, because the silver thread and crystals just kind of blended in with the white fabric. While I don't think the whites are typically the stark, bluish white that they used to be, keep in mind that there WILL be a difference in how embellishments stand out on them.

I am a red head with fair skin. Not only did a white dress make it look like I was washed out, it accelerated my teeth and made my teeth look not so white. So unless you plan to have your teeth whiten and get a spray tan (if your like me and are unable to tan) prior to your wedding, I would go with ivory or blush.
