Any games or fun during the reception and dinner?

Nicole, on January 21, 2012 at 1:01 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8

I'm looking for fun ideas or games to have at the reception. I like the idea of having people answer trivia questions about the bride and groom in order for them to kiss (instead of clinking glasses with a fork) but I want something different and fun! Ideas please Smiley smile

I've seen where the bride and groom sit back to back on chairs and each holds one of the others shoes. (so the bride has her shoe in her right hand and her husbands shoe in her left hand and then visa versa) The D.J. then asks various trivia questions like who said I love you first? who is more likely to get a speeding ticket? etc. The bride and groom hold up the shoe that corresponds with the answer of who they think it would be. It's pretty funny with the right kind of questions. But it's more for the guests to watch then actually participate in.

We created 3 list of question

    1 questions about her

    2 questions about me

    3 questions about us

We bought 3 prizes and whoever gets the most right in each set wins a prize associated with our theme.

Just to be a pita, lol...I don't like the games that the winner is the one that knows the couple best. The best friend or sister or parents always win. It leaves the more casual friends completely out of the competition. I know that it's like a wedding/shower standard, but having been to one where the best friend won like EVERY game...it got old. =(

I put together a Crossword puzzle for our rehearsal dinner - you can do it for free here - http://puzzlemaker.discoveryeducation.com/CrissCrossSetupForm.asp

I was planning to do word searches, crosswords and a mad lib on the back of the program - but it felt like it fit at the rehearsal dinner a little better.

Not games, but I guess you say activities, during our cocktail hr we'll be taking pics, having the guest "sign" the thumbprint tree, a slideshow in the lounge (including pics of us WITH our families and the friends we've invited, not just us), an amazing singer @ the baby grand and either a jenga game or a deck of cards to have guest write advice on. We'll be both in the lounge and the courtyard during coctail hr (courtyard is where pics will be taken, there will be a roving guitarist singing amongst us, the kind you see on a corner w/ his guitar case open collecting tips-but of course not there, we're paying him). We'll also have a scavenger hunt in the bags in the guest rooms.

I found this idea on a web-site for our DW. I thought is was a cute and different way to get us to kiss! Maybe you could incorporate something along this line with your theme.

I like the crossword puzzle idea! I'll have to check out the link. Thanks Caroline Smiley smile
