Any good travel purse suggestions for the honeynoon?

Roberta, on September 13, 2017 at 10:19 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 18

Morning all!

On our Honeymoon we are going to Europe but I am having a hard time picking a purse for the trip. Usually I use a large tote bag for work or a small Michael Kors cross body for the weekends but neither will work for travel so I am looking for something that is big enough for me to throw my selfie stick in and my rain jacket (it folds up pretty small) and that still has a zippered pocket for my wallet/money. Ideally I would like a cross body but I am open to anything that is easy to carry.

Has anyone come across something that they love that still feels secure?

I was just looking into this yesterday--we're going to Europe and I don't want to worry about pickpockets in the crowds. I plan to buy a Travelon anti-they cross body, but they also have an anti-theft backpack that is actually cute. Pacsafe also had some roomy looking bags.

I bought a small Kate Spade cross body purse for our Ireland trip this past June. It was a perfect size to hold my pass port and plently of room for cards and what not.

I've always felt fine with a normal cross body. I just keep any money in an interior pocket, and put my arm over it in situations that would be easy to get pickpocketed. I also kept one card in my purse and one in a hotel safe, so that even if I lost one card, I had another one as a backup.

You should try Ross or TJMaxx if you have those. I've found a bunch of cute purses there that are cheap and functional, but look expensive and are very high quality!

I bought a baggallini pocket crossbody RFID for my last trip. A friend with us had her husband carrying a backpack and someone took both their passports from it without him knowing until much later, so be careful with backpacks.

I've got a Caterpillar crossbody that I bought specifically for travel and it's perfect. It's a slightly earlier version of this one: https://www.bagworld.com.au/shop/detail/cat-spare-parts-city-bag-black-80705/

You might not get a selfie stick in it though, depends how small it folds up! I can get a light raincoat, wallet, phone and keys in it easily and I like that the flap clips shut over the zips so you have a second layer. I've travelled through the USA, UK and Italy with it and never been pickpocketed.

I use a crossbody bag in Europe. I prefer leather, non-designer bags because cloth can be easily cut through. Designer established you as a person with money. I personally never carry my passport on my person. I carry a colored photocopy of my passport instead. I also keep an extra credit card at the hotel. My FH wears his wallet in his front pocket. It's easier to feel a pickpocket in a front pocket. He always keeps extra money in his shoe. A habit we all developed when we went to college in an inner city so we can take a cab home if we got mugged.

^yes, don't actually carry your passport! Leave it in the hotel safe. Carry a color copy if anything, and make sure you leave color copies with someone at home so if you lose yours, they can fax the copy to the embassy so you can get an emergency temp one.

I have always had good luck with baggallini cross body purses, and you can usually find really good deals on them at places like Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshall's, etc. Even if you do not get one with RFID blocking, you can get the RFID credit card sleeves at a travel store and use those in the regular purse. Also, I always split my cash and cc's up and put them in separate zippered compartments in my purses, so that even if someone gets some of it, they do not get all of it.

I've used the Pacsafe Metrosafe LS250 in Europe and Asia. When I need more room or when I want to carry my Nikon camera, I use the Pacsafe CamSafe Venture V12 Sling Bag. I like Pacsafe's zippers because they can be secured into an extra clasp so it's not easy for someone to just unzip your bag.

I use this Travelon and it is awesome! RFID pockets, slash resistant strap, and survived the rain in Scotland. It also comes in pretty much every color imaginable and is relatively inexpensive (28-50 US depending on color). Bonus - I have washed and dried mine in a regular machine with no issues.

Travelon has a lot of great bags. Try Amazon, or eBags.com. eBags usually has weekend sales.

I used this one for our honeymoon in Italy and France. I loved that it had clips on the zipper so I did not have to worry about someone getting into it.
