Any heavy metal brides?

Future Mrs. Webb!, on February 26, 2016 at 4:50 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 21

My FH and I are both into heavy metal music. Since it can be difficult to incorporate that sort of music into a formal wedding, we were thinking of having "Mother" by Danzig play for the seating of the mothers (which my mom already approved since she's a heavy metal fan too), and having "I Believe In A Thing Called Love" by The Darkness play as our recessional song.

What do y'all think? Did y'all do anything similar? We're doing "normal" songs for the other stuff. BMs are entering to an instrumental version of "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" and I'm entering to "All You Need Is Love".

I really like "A thing called Love" for your recessional. I would not consider that a heavy metal song

My FH is a metal fan. We won't be playing any metal at the wedding, but I did just order him a groom's cake shaped like a record player with his favorite band's logo on it. And the weekend after our wedding he is going to Deathfest.

The most "hard rock" thing we did was have the bad play "rocking me baby" by Steve Miller band as our recessional lol. Your ideas sound awesome though!

Before we were engaged we would joke about having Whore by In This Moment as our first song. Would never do it because FMIL would probably have a heart attack right there!

We might have some acoustic versions of some songs we like but FHs family is way religious and would be mortified if we did anything too heavy. We are delaying our honeymoon so we can go to our annual rock festival and our honeymoon may be a big rock concert cruise.

Our first dance will be fade to black by Apocalyptica. Our last dance will be a metal song. Still trying to figure out our ceremony songs.

There are a lot of neat acoustic covers of those songs if you wanted to soften it up

I love "Warmness of the soul" by Avenged Sevenfold. I always thought it would be an awesome and edgy first dance song.

And not quite metal but our entrance song is going to be "Highway 101" by Social D.

    YESSSSSSSSSS

I'm having the violinist learn a Rob Zombie song for our exit.

Unfortunately the type of music we prefer- doesn't sit well with the general crowd of family- so we won't have a lot of it- but I do intend to have some "nods" - A lot of the Mad Violinist songs, Keven Olusola covers and Apocolyptica. win for everyone.

We're hardly playing any generic pop hits because FH and I like different music. I adore Nirvana and The Doors so those will be definitely be a couple of the band's played. FH loves David Bowie, Arcade Fire, Tom Petty, etc but we're adding in some fun, funk music to dance to.

So my FH and I love rock, especially hair metal bands from the '80s. To incorporate this music into our ceremony we are using The Vitamin String Quartet. They cover music of all types like ACDC, Metallica, Lady Ga Ga, etc. and make it sound like an orchestra is playing. They're awesome and it's a nice way to add our personality to the ceremony without it being completely boring.

I am going to walk down the aisle to Skillet's "Feeling Invincible". The 1st verse will play then I'll come out at the start of the chorus. Still at a loss for our first song. I don't like pop and hip hop is OK if you're dancing. But like most of you, trying to incorporate what I like too. My FH isn't into metal so it's an additional struggle. LOL
