any ideas on how to transfer a printed quote onto wood?

Michella, on May 22, 2012 at 10:56 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11

I have a piece of wood that I would like to put some directions to the wedding on. But my handwriting is awful. I printed out a sheet with the font that I want to use and now can't get it to copy onto the wood. I have tried deoderant, and getting the paper wet. A friend told me about the deoderant thing she said that is what tatoo artist use. I guess that only works on people. lol but thought I would give it a try. but failed. Any suggestions?

I saw someone else had posted something about flipping the paper over and shading in the words with a pencil on the backside. Then put it on the wood and go back over it with the pencil and it transfers the letters to the wood. Then just paint over the pencil marks.

    If that makes sense! LOL

Assuming your you are using pine - you should be able to trace the paper sign w/ something pointy to leave an indentation on the wood that you can then paint.

If you figure it out let me know. I have been trying different things for the past 3 or 4 mos. I recently bought transfer paper that you iron on. It melts and distorts the image too much. I tried stickers and the vellum and went over it with mod podge but wasn't really getting the desired effect that I wanted.
