Any indie rock fans? Need first dance song help!

Meesh, on September 26, 2018 at 8:12 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 23

I thought I'd picked a first dance song out but now I've changed my mind. FH and I cannot come to an agreement on what to dance to! Are there any alternative/indie fans here? If so, what are you and your future hubby dancing to? I suggested "No one's gonna love you" by Band of Horses but he doesn't like that one for our dance. I personally love it...... HELP!!!!!!!!!

Stolen by dashboard confessional is one of my favorites. It's not going to be our first dance song, but I love it.

"Take a walk" by passion pit "safe and sound" by capital cities "alive" by Empire of the sun I love indie music! I'm trying to stay away from the typical wedding songs. 😊

If you're up for a cover, we're dancing to Lykke Li's version of Unchained Melody.

Our first dance will be to "Islands" by The XX. And I'm walking down the aisle to "Say Something Loving" by the same band. I think either one of those could work! Another good one is "Hold my Head Above the Water" by Quite Company. Let us know what you decide!

    Beautiful Thing by Grace VanderWaal

Also love Ho Hey by the Lumineers

Someone here suggested The Luckiest by Ben Folds which is a great song, but that middle verse is just kind of creepy to me.

I love the song Q&A by Kishi Bashi. I think it might be a tough song to dance to, but we are seriously thinking of using it as the music for our wedding video. Because if I hear "Perfect" one more time.........OVER IT.

OMG! hahah funny story about that Ben Folds song... I always used to tell my best friend that verse creeped me out, too! BUT she insisted on using it as her first dance song in her wedding. I was a bridesmaid for her and she is my maid of honor. LOL Either way, won't be using that one although overall it is a nice song. She already used it and that verse never sat right with me either LOL

I really wanted "First day of my Life by Bright Eyes but H wasn't a huge fan. We ended up using it in our processional.

We're including a good amount of indie rock, but not as our first dance. I love "Mess is Mine" by Vance Joy. "Whole Wide World" by Cage the Elephant though that may be difficult to dance to. Guster has some good songs, but they're not well known. Starlight by Muse is an older song but a good one. There are so many haha

I love this thread. Vance Joy has been huge in our relationship. "Mess is mine" came out when we met. "Fire and the Flood" when we really committed to one another. Guster is one of my all time favorite bands. Kishi Bashi is amazing. They toured together a few years ago. The xx makes beautiful music.

I will be making the playlist for our day. Smiley heart

That was our original song! But apparently it’s a break up song. We both love it! So idk we might switch it. I read somewhere that the actress Drew Barrymore used that song for her first dance and didn’t care! Lol.

That’s one of my choices too! But the song is kind of sad and dark isn’t it? I love it either way. I’m just wondering for a first dance song? But deff on the list to keep in mind. Smiley smile
