Any married ladies use HitchSwitch for name changing?

I've heard good things about HitchSwitch, and it seems super convenient. Has anyone here used it? If so, what did you think? The task of changing my name seems so daunting to me!

It is not worth the money. We actually paid extra for the platinum package because we wanted the Concierge service. We knew it would mostly be them sending us the forms we needed to fill out but were excited about the claim that they would be there to answer your questions "at any time!" We called on a Saturday and the receptionist promptly answered only to us know they were closed and could not help us.

It honestly wasnt a big deal to do it myself. just make a list of places and prioritize them in terms of importance and bang those visits/calls/emails out one by one (starting w ss office of course).

I’m using HitchSwitch and it’s so nice having everything mailed to me and ready to go. I’m such a busy person this was so convient for me even though I know i could have eventually figured it out myself. I think it’s just personal preference and if you’re willing to spend the money for the service. I thought it was worth it and I’m glad I decided to use it!!

I purchased top package with the understanding that HitchSwitch takes care of everything for me. I did not realize that by paying $89 for the platinum package, I would still have to mail items in myself. The paperwork filled in, I could have easily done myself.
HitchSwitch, in my opinion, is doing nothing but taking advantage of people's money. And to be highly recommended by Wedding Wire and The Knot is an extreme disappointment!!
I will make sure that others are aware what they are purchasing so that this does not happen to them also.

Anyone here in CA? Would it be worth it to do this? I don't have the time or the PTO to wait in line at the DMV or SS office. This sounds like it would be a good idea...

It's not worth it. I paid $90 for forms that I could have downloaded for free. Oh well, live and learn right! Super dumb. Whomever started that company is a marketing genius. What a waste of money!

Something to note for the NYS girls, if you want to make your maiden name your middle name, you need to go to Civil Court first, and then do all the other steps. I was debating about doing this and didn't know it was a thing until a friend told me.

I used them. Bought the most expensive package. Papers were all wrong. I had to redo everything. I do not recommend.

I wished I had read this forum before I purchased the premium package with Hitchswitch.. I didn't know I still had to go to the SSA and DMV myself!! They are really misleading in their ads making people think it's just filling out forms online and not have to go visit in person to all of those places..

In addition, they stated in the cover page of the application packet that changing maiden name to middle name may be an issue for some states but didn't list which states. After googling, I found out NJ doesn't allow maiden name to middle name! So now my paperwork is all wrong because Hitchswitch filled out my maiden name as my middle name. I know I requested it that way, but it's really inconvenient that they didn't help double check. OR at least let me know when I fill out my application online BEFORE I PAID for the services!!

Complete waste of money. They filled my forms out incorrectly. Even though I provided them the correct information. Basically you’re paying $60+ to write your name and phone number on forms that you then have to go and do everything else. For me I had to throw it all away because it wasn’t accurate 🤬

If you're just changing your name, Hitchswitch is not for you. Sure, they somewhat guide you as to what documentation you need, and based on package selection they might pre-fill docs for you, but there's other stuff you'll need to do as part of the process, like for instance, fingerprinting, a federal and state background check, affidavits of child support, good moral character, etc. Also, they will not pre-fill any PII such as Trusted Traveler acct info (former Global Entry), bank acct, hotel/airline loyalty acct information, credit card, social security #, etc. So you're better off just doing it yourself.
