Any May 2020 Brides? How Much Have You Planned Already?

Jazmine, on April 19, 2019 at 11:32 AM Posted in Community Conversations 1 52
Our date is May 2, 2020 and we have the wedding coordinator, dj, venue and officiant. I've done our wedding invites and std's (drafts), started our wedding website and have the 1st draft of the guest list done. I am so proud of myself! Whoop Whoop!

What have you gotten done so far?

Yay to May 2020! Nice to see more 2020 weddings starting to pop up in the forums...

We have our venue, officiant, and photographer. Hopefully this weekend we can get the caterer nailed down, but we are stuck between two options. Our guest list is pretty much finalized at this point as well, unless FMIL wants to try and add some more (which we won't let her, lol). We took our engagement photos two weekends ago when the cherry blossoms peaked in the DC area so we can get nice "spring" looking photos for the STDs. I have dress appointments set up for 6 weeks from now when my mom can come to town, so I'm really looking forward to that. Otherwise, after getting those vendors plus a DJ, our big ticket items will be finalized.

I always feel like I'm so behind, but I guess the biggest thing was getting the venue knocked out a few months ago.

    Yay! Congratulations!!

Those are big accomplishments. I also want the big ticket items done so we can relax for a bit before the new year begins. Your engagement photos are probably going to be beautiful. We haven't taken ours yet so that's something else on the to-do list. Are you from the DC area? We are in SOMD. That'll be so cool to have the same month, year and location for our weddings. Lol.

I’m ready to start talking 2020 weddings too!! 😁

We have the venue, photographer, and hair & makeup (I know it’s a bit early for h&mu, but I really wanted to be their first bride to book our date so that I could choose what time they come and not have to work around another bride’s time). DJ and officiant are currently tentative. Figuring out catering has been the most stressful part so far, so that isn’t done. Guest list is fully done. Most things bridesmaid related are actually picked out and ok’ed by all of the girls. I have a good grasp on decor, save the dates and invitations, I just feel like it’s a *teeny* tiny bit too early to purchase them.

I do have to do hotel blocks soon, which I’m not looking forward to. But it’s crucial since 95% of our guest list is coming from out of town/state and our wedding falls on the weekend of 2 college graduations in Kansas City (oops).

I am also looking forward to the down time this summer when all big things are done and I can just work on some minor diy stuff. Yay!! ☺️☺️

Hey ladies!! Well, I'm on the opposite side of the country (California), but I'm getting married May 30, 2020!!! I feel like I'm doing so well with the planning. We've booked: venue (which includes catering/beverage), DJ, Photographer, officiant, HMUA. I'm in the process now of picking/designing our invitations and STDs. Guest list is pretty much final. I don't see any changes happening there. Our engagement photo shoot is in 2 weeks, as I wanted to wait for Spring weather also. My dress is paid for, and tucked away safely in FMILs closet, hiding from FH. My rings are paid for.

Still to do: FHs ring, start on DIY decor (centerpieces mostly), BM/GM attire, rehearsal dinner, honeymoon (we know what we want, just haven't booked it yet).

Like I said, I feel like I'm doing pretty good, not rushed, but things aren't lagging either. Congrats to all of us May 2020 brides!!!

    Yay! Congratulations!

The hotel block could be simple. I used weddingwire to get bids for hotels and I got that done fairly quickly. They make it super easy.

We live in NoVA but the wedding is in NC. Its closer to FH family so we had at least half of the guest list not travelling to us since I'm originally from Vegas lol

Nice! You’ve definitely checked off some big boxes! We have venue (catering/beverage included), photographer, DJ, photo booth, officiant and wedding dress purchased! Engagement photos were taken a few weeks ago, then begins the STD process. Wedding is in NY and we live in VA so feeling pretty good about the progress!

May 15, 2020 here! So far we have booked the venue, hired the DJ, caterer, bartender, cake baker, photographer and the hair and make up. We just completed our engagement pics Friday and I have the wedding dress and bridesmaid shopping booked for June 15th. I have just been trying to purchase decor and things a little at a time!

Our date is May 8, 2020. We have our ceremony site, venue, catering/bar, photographer, baker, officiant, and a hairdresser. We're in talks with a videographer, florist, and DJ. We have our wedding bands (we happened to walk in on a great sale when I went to get my ring cleaned). Our list has been narrowed down and we're currently trying to decide between 3 save the dates and 4 invitations. We have dates set for our Stag-n- Drag (NWPA) and bridal shower. We have a hotel block that will shuttle guests to the venue and back. And we have the rehearsal dinner narrowed down to 2 eateries. Our wedding will take place near Toledo OH, and we live in Erie PA, so I feel like we're making good progress.

Wow! That's amazing I'm compiling a guest list and I am making an appointment to view the venue and interview them. I am awaiting prices for a makeup artist. That's about it. So much...so little time lol

So excited for everyone, May 9th 2020 here!

We have the ceremony/reception done (same location) which includes the food/booze/cake. Booked a photog, have our engagement party next Saturday, and have our engagement shoot in three weeks. Also wedding dress shopping for the first time in two weeks (happy dance!).

All the wedding party has been asked/gifts given, and we pretty much have our website done, aside for adding more info as we progress. We also started registries at BB&B and Crate & Barrel (at the request of my Mom since we're having an engagement party). We just listed the website on the invites though, don't want people to feel obligated to bring gifts.

Guest list is also pretty much done. We also know who our officiant will be, just need to officially book him, and currently in talks with DJ and videographer. Also setting up appointments with florists this week.

Part of me feels like I'm behind on things, but I think that's because we're almost one year out! Time is going to fly for us all!

I'm very excited. Our wedding is May 30th 2020. We have our color coordination, officiator, first draft of guest list, and photographer. We are soon looking at venues. We will be having our engagement cookout in June. Our engagement photo shoot will be before the engagement cookout to pass out photos and Save the Date cards to family first.
We are sending out announcements to our wedding party in 2 weeks. We are getting gifts together this weekend. We will also be purchasing decor a few at a time.
I am more than excited to get things on a roll!

    May 24, 2020 bride here!

Wow! You all have SO many things accomplished already! We have the venue (which comes with coordination, flowers, decoration, and dj), photographer, 4/7 wedding party members asked, engagement party planned, hair and nails (this is what my mom does for a living so we lucked out there!), and first dress appointment on Friday.

Still working on a caterer, engagement session details, officiant, guest list, bartenders and cocktail hour details, and honeymoon.

Haven't even started on invites/std, groom and all wedding party attire, registry, website, make-up, or rings.

I feel like we're doing pretty good for only being 2 1/2 months in!

Looks like I have the same date as a few others here! May 30, 2020 as well!

We are taking things pretty slowly. We got engaged over a year ago so we haven't felt the pressure to get too much done being so far in advance, though I guess now we should ramp it up a little. Seeing how far along everyone else is makes me worried I'm not doing enough! Smiley atonished

Booked the ceremony/reception venue (comes with catering/bar service and day-of coordinator), guest list is almost finalized, and we're pretty close to hiring our photographer. After we book the photographer we're planning to do engagement photos this spring, which will allow us to make the save the dates since we want to have our engagement photo(s) on those. We have a wedding website and made a virtual "save the date" Facebook event so most of our guests know the date already even though we're waiting to send out the cards. Wedding party is selected and we plan to do dress shopping in July, so the date is picked for that but I think it's still too early to book.

I'm the bride and I do special events on the side. I have the venue, videographer, photographer, silk floral arrangements done, all other vendors (food, day of planner, hair, makeup and limos) booked and half way paid for. My dress is paid and I'm waiting alterations in December. Attire for my wedding party is already selected. I can't wait until this is over. 😍

We were initially thinking October 2020 and had just started looking at venues. We finalized and booked our venue yesterday and it just looked so pretty in the spring we ended up picking May 16, 2020 as our date. Reading everyone else’s response I feel like I need to get a move on everything else though. We’re also in the process of buying a house so booking other things may have to wait since they scrutinize your spending to the penny.
