Any one work w David's Bridal photography?

Kerri, on October 29, 2011 at 10:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 41

I'm getting really uncomfatable with the low price of David's bridal photography ($1795 for their elite package) and starting to have second thoughts. Anyone have anything good or bad to say about them? any feedback would be appreciated.

And keep in mind that the fee you're paying goes partly to DB and partly to the photog, so they are being paid even less than that.

I would start looking for a different photographer if you aren't comfortable. Pictures are important - in 20 (or 50!) years, your memories of your wedding day are giong to be a little hazy. You will always have pictures to relive every moment with.

I had no clue they even offered photography. But I would never consider it. I'd want to meet with the photographer that will be taking the pictures the day of. I would want to review their portfolio, and make sure they are a good fit personality wise. I want to make sure their style is what I'm looking for, and they understand what I am wanting from them.

I would never use an agency or anything. I want to know who will be there.

I also strongly suggest about contacting The Pros for any services for the same reasons.

I tried to contact David's Bridal about their photography packages when I started looking for a photographer to get some further info about them. Wasn't entirely sure, but thought I'd give it a shot and see what they had to offer. It took them an entire month to get back to me. Right then, I was glad I had gone a different direction.

Nate and I are using a davids bridal photographer, we paid $2000. we figured that if davids bridal has their cards out and is recommending them, they must be good, we looked at his website...and still looked around and we liked his work the best. We have no problems with him, we met with him before hand to get a feel for him before we booked him, he got to know us, we got to know him, he just had davids bridal put out his card so davids bridal doesnt get paid because we hired him. We just took our engagement session and got some of the teasers and they are wonderful! I had second thoughts when i kept looking at other photographers after we booked him, but I sucked it up and stopped second guessing, and I love his work. If I were you, meet with the photographer, worse case is you dont hire them and you keep looking, Hope this helps

David's Bridal is handing out their cards because the photographers pay them to do so. It has nothing to do with quality. (okay, maybe very little)

This is no different from a 'preferred list' at a venue. In many (not all cases, to be fair) those vendors are on that list because they paid to be there. This is a very valid question to ask your venue when they start suggesting people to you. (A great source of pros is your OTHER pros, who mostly recommend people they've worked with and liked.)

This is not a value added venture for David's; it is strictly profit. If you found someone you are comfortable with, then cross it off the list and don't second guess your choice. But also make very sure that the person you met is the person that will be there barring an EXTREME (and documentable) emergency.

I am using David's Bridal for my pictures every other place were not offerring the same things that I was looking for. The price was great and they are talking to me every step of the way. I am in Philadelphia and I have had friends who have used them and their pictures were beautiful. They even give you a backup photographer no one else was offerring that and they even offer 4 locations of shooting where everyone mostly offered 2 and then if I wanted additional scenes they charged mileage. I also will get to meet my photographers and coordinator before hand so I have faith.

If David's Bridal photography is anything like Bella or Studio Blue or Blu...I would run as fast as I could. You never get what you see on their website.

Celia is correct. David's Bridal has approached me to advertise with them to be their "preferred" photographer...for a very hefty fee. I turned it down not only because of the pay to play cost, but mainly because the David's Bridal's in my area are known for awful customer service, as well as Bait & Switch tactics (selling a bride a floor sample & telling her it was brand new). I don't want to be associated with a company that delivers that type of customer service. And Celia is also correct about venues. There are very few venues that don't require vendors to pay a "fee" in order to be on their preferred vendor's list. On the other hand, I love to refer vendors I've worked with...that are amazingly talented in their craft, lovely to be around, and very dependable...those are my requirements in order to get a referral from me.

Large photography companies don't always guarantee which photographer or the quality of the photographer you'll get for your day.

As a photographer, I been also was in communication with Davids as well - they were setting up an in house photo company. IMHO it was farming out to anyone w/a camera as an attempt to have another offering to their captive audience. They made up some set packages, and were going to handle everything but the actual shooting of the images. Depending on their suppliers, customer service etc may be chancy. The rate they were paying was abysmal and they had no standards or qualifications. While not saying you will have a horrible experience with them, it would certainly be the luck of the draw. I would seriously suggest you use caution if you select their in house packages. Using a photographer that has cards with them may be a better choice, as they are someone you can meet with ahead of time and get an idea of their business.

Here is a good rule to live by: always talk to the vendor working your wedding. Talk to the person who is physically going to be at your wedding to take your photos. You want to make sure who ever is working your event understands your vision and what you are expecting for your payment. Some thing with cake, music, etc. Once you talk to the person working your event, you will feel better about spending your budget.

DON'T DO IT! I went to a family wedding that used David's Bridal for their photography (in the Manhattan area if you were wondering) and they were the worst, most unprofessional people I had ever seen. During the ceremony they were all over the front, generally blocking the view of the ceremony, and up in the faces of the couple. At the reception it was the same thing, all over the place in the way of everyone else's view of what was going on. And the pictures weren't anything to speak of. I could have produced the same quality with my Nikon coolpix point and shoot camera. My opinion is avoid them at all costs!

Hi!! i am sooo happy to see posts about davids bridal on here. I did buy my wedding dress from them and my bridesmaids, and i can truely say there costumer service sucks!!! I was so upset that what they promised: $20 dollars off each brides maids dress,,, but because the ones we chose were"special value" they did not get that special. I bought a 700 hundred dollar dress and 5 brides maid dresses and they couldnt give me that deal? Also,,, when i bought my dress,,, the tag on the floor dress said 399 i was sooo happy,,, but of coarse it was the biggest size and it didnt fit, they had to order me one my size and charge me full price which was 699. Not to mention the workers there didnt help me at all, i was clipping my brides maids dresses, and digging out all the styles i wanted to them to try on. ( and i had an appointment!!!! ) i was prett upset. I went there today to pick up my last bridesmaids dress and they talked to me about there photography,,im going to decline that offer~!

I have a friend who's trying to go pro as a photographer and she said Davids Bridal, Life Touch and The Pro's are the places that new photographers go to get their feet wet and learn what they need to learn before going off on their own. Sorry, I just don't want someone to use my wedding as a training course.
