September 2020! I’m extremely excited! I have already started planning. Going to be purchasing things here and there so I don’t feel rushed later on. Any ideas or tips are definitely appreciated! Smiley smile

Congratulations! My belief is it it is better to be early and prepared than not ready at all!
So this is what we have done in the about month we have been engaged:
    Set a date
Set a "high" budget and guest limit. (Remember in the planning stages it is always better to Overestimate within means than underestimate and end up outside of your means)
    Picked Colors
Started our Invitee-List (we realistically think all of our invitees won't actually be guest)
Picked Decorations and Flowers (we are doing fake) that will go with our theme and look good just about anywhere we have reception.
Met with Venues (we will likely have our ceremony outside and our reception inside.
Emailed photographer, wedding planner, videographer, DJ to get pricing.
Modified our budgets based on our reception venue "per person"*guest limit*tax&fees = Total reception budget.
We have an idea about all of our vendors.
I have looked at dresses, but I am adamant about not buying a dress until about a year before as a lot can change with a body in 1.5-2 years. (Horror story: I bought a bridesmaid dress like 6 months before my friends wedding and I was exercising and eating right, but I was working on my master's degree and I went up an entire size. Every time I go into David's Bridal [I am like the 27 dresses Bridesmaid!] they urge me to BUY RIGHT AWAY! They say things like "What if we don't have that style when you go to purchase your dress" or it takes X amount of weeks/months to make the dress, so you should purchases it X amounts of weeks + 1,000 to make sure it arrives on time. (Really i am exaggerating, and I know you should get your dress ahead of time, but for me it is too soon unless it is like a one of the kind deal.) Another Bridal dress shopping tip is DON'T WEAR MAKE-UP to try on dresses... I cannot tell you about how many "faces" were lost inside trial dresses! If you do wear makeup, make it simple because most dresses go over your face and it leaves marks!
Picked our Bridal Party (and alternates as it is so far away people can start families and may get engaged and married before us etc., so it is always good to have a plan B)
FH and I made a plan about what we wanted together before sharing any of the plans with anyone else, so that we could plan our wedding the way we wanted it.
The hardest part about planning is that Vendors are not taking me serious. I want to get everything Booked ASAP, so I know our vendor (fixed) expenses right away and we can budget and do down payments etc.
The other hardest part is WAITING! I truly need some advice on how to be patient because I feel like we have everything about the wedding worked out, and we are so ready to do it, but we need to save, so we are not starting our married life in debt. (We both come from big families, so by default we are sort of having a big wedding and we are paying for it ourselves.)

I’m getting married in December of 2020 and I have my bridal party picked out (they don’t know yet), color scheme picked out, and everything else is pretty much just floating around in my head. I do know that I don’t want a big wedding cake. I’d rather have a small cake to cut and then cupcakes so there could be more choices in regards to flavor.

Hi there! You're not alone. Since we're getting married in April we wanted to secure the venue as early as possible without the threat of losing it (peak wedding season) or losing the current prices. Additionally, I won't be able to plan anything between November 2018 and February 2019 because I'm taking the Bar in February. So, we wanted to get the venue out of the way now.

So far, we have picked the date, a color scheme, secured a day of coordinator, and narrowed down our venue search to two places. We plan on signing by the end of this month.

I'm also fairly certain I know what dress designer i'm going with and my half of the guest list is done. Wedding party and flowers choices have been selected.

October 2020 here. My fiancé and I have not done any planning or made any decisions. My biggest task was getting my nephew(3) to agree to be in the wedding. Finally got that. Going to look at a venue next weekend, but I feel like even now is too early to book but I feel like if I wait too long, I’m going to run out of time.

My FH and I are engaged but we don't have an official date yet. Early 2020 is when we would like to make it happen (he suggested next year but I told him I need more time for planning, lol). We are not in a hurry and we really want to make it something amazaing for us. Wd agree on mostly everything (still working on the wedding size), and we are set on the venue. We will book as son as we have the cash (we have 6 babies between the two of us so money is tough to save). Anyhow. Super exited here!!!

July 2020! We are super excited as well. I have about three venues I’ve reached out to just to get a feel for their prices. FH and I have settled on a number for the guest list (200). We’ve also settled on a budget $10,000!

Oct 2020. We have done everything when it comes to the beginning parts of planning. Yet he has not proposed yet but I know he has the ring lol bc he told me. Im just waiting. In the meantime. We have planned the church and venue(which we have put a deposit on already and doing payments). We have got pricing for everything and now we are budgeting and living frugal. Congrats on your engagement hun and keep us up to date with your planning Smiley heart

I’m planning a wedding for June 2020! I’m also struggling feeling like it’s so far away and don’t how fast or slow to plan. We want to pick a venue in the next couple months so that is atleast set for the date & place we want. Otherwise it feels like when do you ask people to be in your bridal party, take engagement photos, send out save the dates?? There is so much time, but also I’m so excited to plan! Love to hear anyone’s timelines on planning their 2020 weddings!

We're getting married May 22 2020 @ 4:00. We decided on the venue for ceremony which is a park close to us. We've pretty much finalized the wedding party, colors, and theme. Still need to work on guest list, reception hall, flowers, dresses, and tux's.

Honestly, I've done just about everything. We are looking at one other venue next week so it will be between 2. They both don't book until 2 years and since were getting married 10/10/2020 we have until Oct. to decide. I hope this new venue works out for us! Its in budget, closer to everyone and the setting will flow with our them more! I already found my cake baker and decided on a design, making my deposit in Oct as well. Both venues offer China and Linens in the price along with other services. My decor is going to be simple, candles, gold dipped or painted glass coke bottles with DIY paper roses, fake small orange and/ or white pumpkins, floating candles and some form of greenery on the tables, Through out the venue there will be mums ( which are cheap in the fall). The wedding party flowers are all DIY paper roses from books, the men I haven't completely figured out yet. I know where I am getting my dress (Candlers in Asheville, NC) all dresses 150-300 all new with tags, comes from wedding shops that replace them with new lines. ( they are 1 to 3 years old) (my bestie got a 980$ gown for $250 and paid 100$ for alterations!) basically all im looking for is a caterer and officiant
