Any other “so extra” flamboyant kind of brides?

So I’m a week out and feeling the pressure to look like a classic/timeless/elegant bride from family and it’s just not me. I’m feeling down by the negativity. So I’m a week out and feeling the pressure to look like a classic/timeless/elegant bride from family and it’s just not me. I’m feeling down by the negativity. My attire is set in stone, I’m comfortable with what I’ve chosen but I’m definitely a “more is more” so extra kind of dresser so I’d really like to see some stories or photos of brides like that!

Fun hair?
Colored dresses?
Over the top accessories or makeup?
GLITTER!?

Please share so I can fawn over all of you.

See, I knew you'd get it. I did a Poison Ivy costume one year that then turned into a Wonderland Garden costume so I have so many ideas on how to pull it off. I never thought of transparent wings but I do like it. So many options and ideas!

My friend has been wanting me to go to a renn fest closer to her but I lost of lot of my old garb so this dress is all I really have now. I love dressing up though, for literally anything. I have done the Polar Plunge here for several years and refuse to plunge without a costume after getting stopped by athletes and their families while dressed as Sailor Moon. I was so happy to see their excitement. I really have to think of a new costume this year, the trick is something that won't be completely ruined by sea water and is easy to take off so I'm not stuck in layers of wet cold in the middle of winter. My son and I went to a Bronycon ball a few years ago and I was in awe of some of those costumes. I want my dress to end up being versatile enough after the wedding to go from con to faire. And your dress is definitely regal enough!!!!!!

My make-up is ridiculous at this point. I bought an organizer for our bathroom counter when we moved in, I now need a bigger one!!!

I can definitely picture Poison Ivy! Oh Kris could be your Harleyquinn!! Yes I would do the same character twice because that’s super adorable. Ivy’s the best thing that ever happened to Harley(I hate Joker), Cye and I are in agreement that they’re a perfect pair.

Did you make your Sailor Moon costume? One of my favorite shows growing up, I wanna be Mars! Or just Chibi Moon because pink.
Girl I have noooo idea what kind of costume that’ll be, something with layers you can take off obviously but man that’s a tough one. Something DnD? Nothing with a heavy skirt but maybe a cool looking barbarian, a really wild one with pelts and teeth necklaces. You could be like a Norn from Guild Wars, though people would probably think you’re from GoT lol.

Aww that’s adorable!! I’ve seen some pony cosplayers on TV, sadly never been to a con yet. We were thinking about going in a year or so, picking the couple from Darling in the Franxx because it’s hard to find a couple with the guy being shorter than the girl! Plus pink hair, it’s fate I tell you.

I can’t wait to see what you do with your dress!! Man I’m so excited for all the fairy weddings happening on WW, there isn’t many of us so it’s a little special I guess.

I live ten minutes from a mall that has an overstock luxury makeup store. It’s a blessing and a curse. Tom Ford is still too expensive even in overstock but man I grab everything else. My favorite little splurge is a MAC lipstick EVERY mall trip! My makeup box won’t even shut. Send help 😭

I'd have to gender bend the Harley costume a bit but that is definitely an idea!! I love Ivy and Harley together!!!! I told her I really want to do Gomez and Morticia some year.

I bought the costume, I honestly didn't watch the show much but have enjoyed what I did see. It was my second choice after my Pizazz costume was stolen from my porch. I'm no seamstress though I really would like to be. Imagine making all those skirts (that would actually be tall enough on me) and cloaks!

I have done a Grecco/Roman goddess, a rainbow super hero (I organized the team for our local pride organization), island girl, and an 80's workout theme. I missed the last 2 years because of surgeries but I plan to go back this year. I bought this tacky outfit at a thrift store for a party that kind of looks like a tacky tourist thing so I might just do that. It is so fun and for a great cause, Special Olympics.

My son went by himself to the final BronyCon in Baltimore this year. I have been to a few cons in my area and Richmond, VA but want to make it to a bigger one sometime. I went to Richmond as Dread Pirate Roberts and another one as Oracle. I met Sam Huntington and his assistant was the one who actually recognized my costume. I had to be in a wheelchair after an injury so it was thrown together quickly but quite effective.

These fairy weddings are so incredible. I wouldn't call mine one, but they are inspiring me. Oh, and I had a thought. I am 42 and I'm doing the all these nerdy elements so I doubt I'll be regretting it at all. Think about that if someone asks how you'll feel about your wedding in 10 or 20 years.

Ivy and Harley are just so wholesome, FH is a big comic book nerd, anime is more of my nerd thing but I read his Batman comics and we watch the shows together. You could have a friend be Batman like that Christmas season episode where Ivy and Harley made him take them on a shopping spree. It’d be a fun scene!
Gomez and Morticia have the perfect marriage. A beautiful loving family but still so passionate and lusty for each other. Everyone should be like them. 😍 I’d love to dress as Morticia, she’s hauntingly beautiful!

Making costumes is just so outside my skill so I feel you there. Those big layered skirts look so difficult to make. It’s awesome you get to wear costumes all year round!! We only go to renn fest and do Halloween parties. Every year we just add another accessory to our renn characters(our DnD characters)

I LOVE that you went as Oracle! Barbara is my favorite hero. How are you feeling now though?

I think we won’t regret it either. We’re 30, we’ve been the same since we were kids. To regret our wedding would be like regretting how we lived. My only regret is caving to pressure and not just doing it 100% how we wanted.

Seriously Cye will PURGE my makeup if I let it get any bigger. It spills out over every surface since the lid can’t be closed. He needs to buy me a giant briefcase. I’m having a hard time narrowing down my makeup for the honeymoon. I don’t even wear most of it! I just want it just in case.

Kris has actually been pretty understanding, especially since I bought most of it for the wedding and it's still cheaper than hiring a MUA. I really do need to purge some of the lipsticks I don't even wear anymore. I don't think she knows how many I actually have because I always end up leaving the most used ones in my purse. LOL

My MUA is only charging $60 so I couldn’t get away with it, he’s well aware how much my makeup costs lol. I did get rid of my impulse grocery store lipsticks a while ago because I ran out of room but those $8 MAC lippies are now taking over. In my defense I only own one loose eyeshadow! The rest are tidy palettes!

Wow, that is a deal! No chance of finding that here unless you get a friend to do it. I'm totally confident doing my own make-up for the day but wishing I had just gone ahead and booked a hair stylist. It's the one thing I'm still really freaking about.

What kind of hair are you going for?
MUA are expensive around here too, I’m just a loyal customer of the salon so I’m getting a reduced rate. My hair stylist there is the one who dyes my hair and styles it for free every appointment. She’s just coming in to curl it for me, nothing fancy. I might ask her about a tiny braid in the back to hold my veil but she’s the only one on earth who has made my flat, long, heavy hair into voluminous loose princess curls, seriously my hair triples in size. She’s a wizard.

I drawn to the updo but with all of these it's about what I can pull off. I have rollers and a curling iron but I'll be doing most of this on my own and those that will be with me aren't great at braiding.

Ahhh I love that book!! There’s even purple! You’re killing me here!
Yeah I don’t like extensions either. I grew my hair down to my hips but an idiot stylist didn’t know what 1/8th of an inch was and just hacked a good 2 inches off and butchered it. 😑 My current stylist fixed it hut it’s only to my lower back now. I wanted loooong hair!

Hmm at just below your shoulders the curls might shorten it too much? It could go either way. When my hair was that length one stylist made me look like Shirley Temple, and another made me look good. The curls were looser and framed the face. The updo would look nice too if you can do the braids!

I cut my hair short for a long time and started growing it out shortly before we got engaged. I think I'm leaning toward the updo because it's shorter than I want.

I can't believe she found this book. It's so perfect for our ceremony!!!
