Any pale girls wearing white?

Traci, on May 22, 2017 at 3:52 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 27

I always have heard that white will wash me out as I am pale, so I've only been looking at ivory and blush.. should I look into white too? Is it uncommon for pale girls to wear white? And what about champagne?

I think most people wear white as it's traditional. It's in the last few years that other colors have become more popular. Don't limit yourself, try on white and the other colors you mentioned and see what you like best on you.

When I bought my dress the salon sales associate said most salons don't even carry samples in stark white anymore. They had all of 2 in their whole store. Ivory is more common (and honestly it's hard to tell the difference unless you hold them side by side) my dress is ivory but looks white against my skin tone (very scandinavian/irish pale with pink undertone). I loved how blush looked on me as well, and even tried on and really liked a dress that came in a color called oatmeal. It's all about what you're comfortable in, try on what your eye is drawn to, don't let what society says dictate you in what to wear. Wear what makes you feel beautiful, if that's stark white, ivory, champagne, blush, black, blue, silver, floral, who cares... as long as you feel wonderful.

I'm super white and can't tan much and I'm still wearing a white dress. I didn't like the ivory color and I think that the white looks fine on me. It's all personal preference!

I'm super pale. Still wearing a white dress. Didn't hesitate when ordering white over Ivory. White typically looks terrible on me but wedding dress was fine.

I tried on 1 white dress and it looked horrible on me. I ended up with an ivory and champagne dress. I would try on every color to see what you like best.

I'm very pale and wearing white. I always dreamed of wearing white and didn't even think twice when ordering it even though I tried my dress on in blush. No regrets! I love my white dress.

This is a photo of my dress and it is considered ivory, but tbh I would not have looked at it and been like "oh, that's not white!" Most people can't tell the difference. (For reference, my sister in the white shirt behind me is wearing a stark white button down, so you can see how my ivory gown stacks up when next to white.)

Also, ivory comes in a TON of shades, some closer to cream and some practically white. It is very hard to tell the difference and many (if not most) gowns in store will not have samples in white--maybe "soft white" or "off white" or "light ivory" but it will be more rare (though not impossible) to find a genuine white dress sample. Some gowns will come in white as an option for purchase but they may not have that same gown as a sample in white (that was the case with my gown).

There's nothing wrong with wearing a stark white gown, as long as you like the way it looks on you. I say try on a variety of shades and see what you like the best. Hopefully whatever dress you choose comes in the color you want!

True white isn't very flattering on a lot of people, if you have any redness you will look splotchy. My dress is off white and I don't think anyone can tell the difference

Try on multiple colors and see what looks best. I think it has to do more with the undertones in your skin then your paleness. I am pale with pink undertones and the stark white looked horrid on me. My sister who has more olive undertones although just as pale looked amazing in stark white. If you haven't yet bought your dress keep yourself open. I personally ended up with a blush dress and could not be happier, but you have to find what you love and what looks good on you!

Try on different colors by different designers. I looked aweful in 1 ivory, but ordered an ivory dress by a different designer. It depends on undertones and the layers of the dress.

From the start I said I wanted Ivory for my skin tone as well, but the girl who was helping me brought me an off white one so I could try a specific top, and I ended up choosing that color actually!!, I also can't tan so much, this past february we went to the beach with the fam, and in the last pictures we took, the whole family and FH looked sooooo tanned and I looked like it was my first day there

I had the same experience as Grace. All the dresses that I thought were white were actually ivory. The consultant says most stores don't even carry white dresses anymore. Regardless, I'm very pale with dark hair and I feel like freaking Snow White in my dress. Embrace the pale lol.

My dress looks very white to me, but still listed as a light ivory. I am very pale and didn't feel washed out! You can also use a warm lip color and some blush to help in pictures.

I'm pretty pale, with rosy cheeks and dark hair, and after holding up various swatches at my first consultation, my dressmaker and I decided white was the way to go. I don't think there are any hard-and-fast rules; it's really all about what you're most comfortable in.

Redhead here, so I'm the queen of paleness lol. I'm wearing white, which looks amazing against my red hair. The dress also came in ivory, which is what I tried on initially since it's all they had in and I actually looked way more washed out in that.

My dress is "snow white" so it's truly bright white and no amount of paleness in the world would be that pale haha

I would absolutely try on a few different colors to get a feel of what you will like best! If that happens to be the white, then go for white girl!

They are all "white" and I say that because literally no one will notice the difference- it's all some variation of white.

Most people do NOT wear stark white. and its' fine. I'm fairly pale to (not translucent) but pale enough (NC20/25 in MAC)- and I just didn't even bother with any white variation- I wore a black gown.

I am super pale, like the most pale person I know. Mine is actually called "vintage" (it's like a champagne color). I really don't think it matters what color you decide to go with as long as you feel beautiful in it. When I was trying on dresses the consultant actually told me that because stark white can give a blue is tint in pictures they don't carry it anymore.

I'm pale, and my dress is considered ivory. It looks white to me, and I don't think it makes me look washed out.

I would definitely still try dresses on that are white or ivory, just to know for sure if you do or don't like it.
