Hello! I was just wondering if they're any poor people, like myself that are planning a wedding? By poor I mean, living paycheck to paycheck, but even that isn't enough. Im asking because, I'm trying to find someone on here that I can relate to. What are you cutting out on your daily life, that can go towards your wedding? Even if its an elopement, things cost money. Mine is food, im only buying cheap food, and not eating out as much.

You're not alone at all!! I'm putting money from my paycheck into my savings account, if it's not in my checking it's like I don't have it to spend! Ha! Also, I'm going to DIY my bouquet, bridesmaids bouquet, and all centerpieces. I'm also going to buy a bridesmaids dress in white, instead of a wedding gown. That alone is going to save me hundreds of dollars.

I am having my wedding in my mom's backyard so that saves alot of money. Plus I got a great deal on my dress. Though I am lucky to have a mom and step dad who are helping out tremendously on this. They are paying for the catering and the alcohol.

Yeah, we’re broke as heck and we live in a very expensive city which is not great for wedding budgets. However, we did not want to wait years to get married so we decided to have a very small wedding. We also liked the thought of a more intimate setting. The entire wedding budget is 4k-5k and we’re sticking to that number! We’re getting married on a Friday morning (10 days, ahhh!) at a free botanical garden and then taking 25 people, including ourselves, out to lunch at a nice local restaurant and using their private party room. No dj, no dancing, 3-hr photographer (not all day), no limos, no hotels, no honeymoon, $300 dress, no unnecessary parties, lots of DIY, and maintaining our frugal lifestyle in general. Hopefully we can save up for a nice vacation in a year or two, but we didn’t want to wait to get married so that was not a difficult compromise for us. If you feel differently, you may need to save up for longer and take on a few side jobs before you can afford the wedding you want.

We stopped buying groceries at places like Meijer and only shop at Aldi's now. It's amazing how much money we really do save each week from that alone! We also don't eat out as much and I do meal planning each week, we don't go out to the movies (we have only done that once in the last 6 months), and just recently we started cutting out buying coffee on the go and buying drinks and snacks on the go as well.

ETA: I used to get a shellac mani and a regular pedi every 2 weeks and I stopped doing that as well.

I'm not in your situation, but I do find that garage sales and purging of things or furniture that clutter can get you some extra cash, and also really getting creative with meals so that you are only grocery shopping once a week tops for just produce helps too! The more often you go to the store the more things you bring home that you don't need...

But truly, you are as rich as your love. Just have the wedding that you two can afford with the budget that isn't putting you into debt. While this is one of the most special days of your life it shouldn't break the bank. And if right now it does, then push it out a few years and save - if it's that important to you, it's worth it!

Hey!! That's me too!!! My parents are helping out with wedding..and we have the advantage of knowing ppl that are gifting their talents..a cake...dj..planner..ect. Hmmm definitely cut out lunch. Pack your own lunch and u will save...try to eat out maybe once on the weekend..less shopping unless its for wedding, and you can find a dress within your budget if u look around..i got mine for 105. Also do not spend too much money on rings..mine are worth more than my truck but i am definitely regretting it now. Something simple will be beautiful. Oh and dont try to impress the world with a fancy shmancy wedding u cant afford..do something simple, but make sure there is food for all

It's hard. FH is working major overtime and DJs on the side so that extra money comes in handy. Even before the wedding I always tried to save money. I usually bring my lunch to work and stay away from vending machines, they seem innocent but they add up. No more Starbucks and I rarely buy clothes for myself unless I absolutely need to. If you want a second job, go for it. I can hardly find time to plan the wedding with one job, so I can't imagine having two. That's just me though. Coupons are life! If you shop at target, get the cartwheel app, I save SO much money with it. Also, we lowered our tv package to something cheaper for the time being. Little things like that add up. If you have any books, CDs, old movies, maybe try selling them at a local record store, or even clothes stores? We did that and got some extra money. Good luck girl!!

We are definitely living paycheck to paycheck. The best thing I did was research. It took hours sometimes but I eventually found what I wanted in our budget. It definitely wasn't easy though. I also started pet sitting. I would have never made it without that extra money coming in.

All loose change gets set aside. We've got a couple hundred in the last 4 months. It's a start.

More groceries, we quit dining out, especially lunches. We are both brown-bagging it to lunch. Less pop, snacks, extra crap food that we don't need.

You and your FH might want to consider getting a joint bank account and putting a little into it every week and when you feel like you have enough plan an eloping wedding. My cousin, because he's very private and hating being the center of attention, got married on their honeymoon (basically). They still had a photographer, she had a dress, etc. But it was a lot more cost effective.

At the time of my first wedding I was just out of college and my ex was unable to work but also in legal limbo and unable to collect disability. We knew he was likely to have a large backlog of disability payout once legal stuff was finished, but decided to pinch pennies and cut corners to get married with what we had rather than wait for a dragged out legal proceeding that would only probably pay off. We scrimped and saved and made it work, and it was better for us in our situation than a delay would have been.

That said, every situation and relationship is different of course and what was right for me might not be what's right for you. I wish you all the best!

We quit eating out so much and very rarely do we go out for date night now. Instead we pic a movie and shut off our phones during that time.

Just throwing this out there but coupons really help a lot too. Not so much on food, but other things like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, laundry detergent etc I've saved SO much. If you match the coupons with sales you can get things for free and close to free. I started doing it just for fun, but after seeing how much we've saved, I feel guilty paying full price for those things now.

Right here!! FH has a good job but I'm a stay at home mom.. I'm doing everything myself like centerpieces etc. and bought my dress for 200.. The only big expenses we are getting is the venue which is like 1,200 and catering
