Any RNs that wear their ring to work?

Wondering if any other nurses out there wear their engagement ring to work or just their wedding band? I'm getting married in march but it hurts my FHs feelings when I don't wear the engagement ring... I just don't like the thought of it being around all the muck at work.

I don't, chemo infusion nurse so I am constantly double gloving.

It's too uncomfortable. So I wear it on a necklace.

I'm not a nurse but I work at a hospital and a lot of the nurses wear them. I don't wear mine to work, though.

I wear mine, but I just flip the diamond around to palm side when I put gloves on - I find my diamond catches on the gloves less this way. Also I almost always double glove in isolation rooms.

A nurse coworker lost her ring when she took it off while washing hands. This, I never take mine off for whatever reason.

I work for the Cleveland Clinic and our policy is only plain bands. A lot of my coworkers wear their rings and just flip them around so the diamond is by their palm. I'll probably just wear my bands.

I'm a floor RN and I never wear my engagement ring to work, I am way to scared to lose it! My FH is in agreement also. I will wear my wedding band, which will be plainer after October!

I will say - I only wear my ring because when I was looking at rings I told the jeweler how important it was for me to have a lower profile ring. If I had a ring with a high profile - I probably wouldn't wear it for fear I would hurt a patient - we do a lot of moving and awkward positioning on patient's with fragile skin.

I am a Paramedic and I wear my engagement ring to work. It fits well and I can't pull it off without work so I'm not overly concerned about losing it pulling off gloves.

That being said I also wear gloves at all times so my hands only get sweaty not nasty. Not saying one won't break and it happen it just hasn't yet.

I wear mine every day. I have an ultrasonic cleaner at home that gets the diamond sparkling like new after work & gets that nasty hand sanitizer off. I highly recommend an ultrasonic cleaner

Thank you for posting this. Got home from the gym and read this and realized I left my ring at the gym *insert heart attack* I'm a physical therapist and I wear mine at work most of the time, sometimes on my right hand if I have to do something intensive with my left

I'm in the NICU. Unit policy is no rings with stones. So I can't wear mine. I so badly want the matching wedding band, but I hate the idea of not only taking my e ring off every time I work but now 2 rings.

So now I plan to get a plain band that compliments my e ring so I can always wear my band. Without stones it'll be much easier to keep clean and germ free. Maybe one day if I get away from the bedside I'll upgrade to the matching band.

I wore mine initially, but because of its setting and all the nooks and crannies involved I stopped wearing mine (I come across too much poop and bodily fluids). I also happened to chip off one of the prongs hitting my ring on the gurney, so I had to take it back in to get it fixed. Smiley sad

I do not wear my engagement ring to work and my FH does not mind at all. It's a personal preference . I'd rather not get it dirty.

I didn't at first but most of my coworkers do. I started wearing mine and have for awhile now with no issues. I still want to get a chain to put it on at work and wear it as a necklace at work but I haven't yet. A lot of our docs tie it to the tie on their scrub pants.

My RN friend just wears her wedding band. She purposely chose a plain gold band for work.

Not a nurse but I'm an ultrasound tech in a hospital - I wear mine every day. It's a low profile setting and I check it every time I take a glove off that hand.

All the engaged/married females in my department wear their rings

No ring at work. No need to take work gunk or germs home.

I don't wear mine for 2 reasons. 1- I don't want to take home germs and don't want it to get lost. And 2- I work in the NICU and we aren't allowed to. Also, we have some who put it on their necklace, but I have seen a few break their necklace at work and lose it. Others put it on a safety pin an put it on the inside of their scrub top. If you do chose to do that be careful to remove it before washing or if you change scrubs (we do for the OR) so you don't lose it that way. Honestly, it's a personal decision. My FH understands what I do and is totally supportive of me leaving it at home so I don't lose it or track home germs. But I also wear it at all other times. Maybe have a heart to heart with him. Hopefully he will understand.
