Any size 12/14 brides care to share?

Hi! I have my first dress appt in 3 weeks and I'm just curious to see "real brides" that are my size. I know this size isn't that big but I'm feeling self conscious already. Show me how beautiful you look in your gowns! I'm thinking the small samples won't even fit me.

I was in the same boat when I went shopping, I wasn't particularly excited because size wise I wasn't where I wanted to be but it really wasn't that bad. My consultant asked questions in advance of my appointment and had the perfect mix of dresses chosen for me when I got there. I narrowed it down to 2 and this one ended up being the one. I think I ended up in the 14-16 range (usually a 10-12). It's just a number though, it's about how you feel in the dress! Ignore my face, this isn't the most flattering picture of it.

I'm a size 14 regular dress but my wedding dress is a size 18.

You absolutely cannot worry about size! I'm a 10/12 and had to get and 16 and have it taken in a bit. Try on everything. I never would've tried the dress I bought if the lady hadn't pushed.

I got married yesterday and it was perfect!

    Best wishes!

I appreciate what you're trying to do with this post, but I second the "real brides" comment. You just make everyone feel bad.

At the time of buying, I was a street size 10. The sample didn't fit at all. I ordered a size 18.

Now I'm an 8 and the dress is altered to fit my perfectly. So the size doesn't matter because it gets altered anyway.

I'm not a size 12/14, but I don't think you'll have any problems trying your size on. My store didn't have anything smaller than a 10/12 (I went to Macy's bridal salon).

In street clothes I'm a 12/14 and my dress is a size 16 (I bought it off the rack). It's a number plain and simple and you will look radiant.

@bemyguest that wasn't my intention at all. I know we're all real brides but I simply wanted to see people my size in a bridal gown. I figured this was the best place to ask that question. There were commenters I could have ignored, for instance a size 4 having to buy a 10. That's not what I was looking for or even asking. I don't think I made anyone feel bad actually, this post was about empowerment and feeling good in our skin. That was my goal. I just wanted to see my size, that's all.

I wasn't upset with the "real bride" remark until your last comment. I'm a 4/6 in a 10.

I felt really self conscious about my dress size, until I saw brides on here who are ALL real, and how everyone has to size up. It's a normal thing. I can still be empowered even if I'm a smaller size than you.

This is a 16, I ordered the same size. I'll end up having to get the bust taken in and maybe the waist (I wasn't planning on losing weight when I ordered the dress...Then I did..)

I'm usually a 14/16. I ordered the 16 I'm wearing in the picture but it wound up being a bit big. I sent it back for a 14. My dress doesn't really have structure, though, so sizing was a bit easier to guesstimate.

I'm 5'9" and a size 10/12, with a 32ff bra size and I ordered my dress is a 12. My waist is my smallest measurement and my hips/butt are by far my largest, but they didn't matter BC my skirt was a ballgown.

I don't think OP meant anything offensive when she said "real brides" I honestly read it as her wanting to see "normal people" in a size 12/14 wedding dress. Not what we see on tv, or social media, or in a magazine. NO. Just regular, everyday Joe Schmoes just like me.
