I feel like i am doing everything right in terms of the eating part but just can't manage to get the extra weight off. I made the stupid mistake of having my dress made 2 inches tighter in the hope it would fit by June, but i am kind of freaking out now. I don't know if exercise would even help,...

I feel like i am doing everything right in terms of the eating part but just can't manage to get the extra weight off. I made the stupid mistake of having my dress made 2 inches tighter in the hope it would fit by June, but i am kind of freaking out now.

I don't know if exercise would even help, isn't it all about what we eat any way?

Help!

You're so welcome, glad I could help!!! Muah Smiley winking

By the way, if weight gain occurs after switching to a plant based diet, there are a few possible reasons. You're eating too much fat, salt, or processed food (which often has a lot of both and/or doesn't use whole ingredients), OR your body just needs the chance to heal from all the prior years of poor diet. Especially if you have done a lot of yoyo or starvation dieting, your metabolism needs the chance to balance out and heal. So therefore, some people gain some weight before losing it for good. This is part of the healing process and many, many people can testify to this. I believe it's called aggravated healing. That is, if you're actually low fat and eat a lot of whole foods, raw foods, and properly hydrate with fruit and filtered water.

Hellllo fellow vegan. Oh my god, no one is ever concerned with your protein intake until you tell them you're a vegan. As a vegan trainer, I can tell you that the best way to maintain a healthy body is to continue eating vegan. Remember that those delicious daiya and tofurkey meals are tasty, but they aren't the whole foods we need.

I also try intermittant fasting with my clients, and with myself. I have a 16:8 window. I exercise during my fast - cycling, lifting, HIIT, running, etc - which is at 6am, and then I begin eating at noon. The fasted body responds fine to the exercise, and I drink coffee and tea until noon, when I eat my first big meal. I stop eating at 8pm. By putting caloric intake into a defined period, we take in fewer calories. Our bodies often don't need as much food as we give them, they just need the right foods to function. I would try this, if you're struggling to lose weight.

Also - move that body, girl. No sitting on the couch, just get up and incorporate all the movement you can. Cardio alone won't help you lose fat unless you are completely sedentary and obese, which judging from your photo - you are not either of those things. You must incorporate strength training to focus on leaning out your body and gaining muscle. I tell my clients all the time - keep the cardio, that's fine - but strength training is what will give you muscle - and that lean muscle burns more calories.

Don't listen to the non-vegans telling you not to be vegan. Omnivores are so weird, sometimes.

As long as you are low fat and high carb, you can eat until you're full every meal and lose weight. You could eat 3000 calories a day with mild-medium exercise and lose weight (after healing and adjusting).

This is not true. If you eat(bananas, lettuce, candy, doesn't matter) more calories than you expend you will gain weight. Just eating a ton of bananas won't make you lose weight.

@Hillary, who told OP not to be vegan? I thought all of these answers were trying to be helpful and not at all judgmental of vegans.

@hillary I am a vegetarian. I asked about protein levels because my sister was struggling to lose weight on a similar caloric intake, and she was only eating 12 grams of protein a day. It had nothing to do with her being vegan, and everything to do wtih my past experiences, and the fact that she mentioned eating "bushels of kale"
