Okay. Do you have any friends or family who would be able to let you use their garden back yard for free or for a very cheap price?

Okay, then I recommend looking into using a city park as a venue. Whether its outside or there's a shelter area you can use.

I took a very quick look through the churchs and parks in the area, and the best church garden in the santa cruz mission bit they want you to jump through a million hoops amd pay an arm and a leg, the parks look promising though. There's parts of Harvey park that can be rented for $80 a day with $150 alcohol deposit. You could also consider waiting for a couple years for the big ceremony until you can save up more money to better match your wedding vision.

Oh I did not know that! Makes total sense though given the circumstances.

Go to the court house and get married and rent a hall for your reception and diy some fancy centerpieces. Or push your wedding back and use the $700 for a deposit on a nice place and make monthly payments I’m sure you’ll find something you like.

AirBnb's was a great suggestion, but last I heard (last week) - they are no longer permitting events of any sorts. https://news.airbnb.com/airbnb-announces-global-party-ban/

Op, I'd look into a community park or local lodge of sorts (Moose, Masonic, or even look into a smaller Hotel brand, they may give you event space for free as long as you have "x" amount of rooms)

In all honesty if you are wanting a fancy reception and a garden and such then $700 more than likely won't be do able. You are going to have to either get the closest you can and not be picky or just go to the courthouse. With a budget that low you cannot afford to be picky about where and what you want.

Wasn't intended to be, just trying to help you see reality that you aren't going to be able to get all that you would want with a budget that low. It is doable to have a wedding with that small of a budget, but not one where you are wanting a fancy reception and a garden.

I don't think that Bo was being rude, but just trying to be honest. I tend to agree with her. I think it will be extremely difficult to find a venue with a garden for $700 if you don't have any friends with gardens in their back yards. Can you do it in a backyard without a garden and maybe rent some large plants to give it more of a garden like feel?

I don't think she is trying to be rude. She's trying to give you the best advice possible. And honestly, she is right. If 700 is your entire budget, you will need to compromise on certain things. That's just a fact. We had to postpone our large reception but still wanted to get married on our original date. We had a certain budget we needed to stay within which meant I had to compromise on certain things. For example:
    - for alcohol, we could only afford beer.
    - we got a small cake from a supermarket to keep the cost down. - I got flowers from a supermarket and made by own bouquet. - no DJ. Just a Spotify playlist. - had a photographer for only 2 hours. I did not get any "getting ready" shots or details shots. I took my own with the camera on my phone because I still wanted those pictures but couldn't afford to keep her longer than 2 hours. - did my own hair, make up, nails, etc. (This was both due to budget and due to COVID).- we got married on the beach without a permit. This costs $0 but means anyone can walk by. A permit would have been just way too much.
It may be possible to have a wedding on a small budget but you have to be ok with letting some things go. It's either that or you hold off until you can save more.

$700 for the entirety of your wedding is a not lot, if you told me that it was for your venue, that would be doable, but I don't know how this would be feasible. Hence, I recommend just to have a backyard wedding, even if none of your friends have a nice garden, I feel as long as they have a yard you could DIY your way to a pretty snazzy looking event space. Or, you know, save some money and reschedule, I know you've mentioned several times that you can't postpone the wedding any longer, but I don't feel there's any need to be on some sort of time crunch, especially during an epidemic.

Airbnbs have banned parties so this isn't an option anymore unfortunately.
