What style of wedding are you looking for? I’m in a similar position but I want a rustic wedding so I chose to do mine off a very short hiking trail

Our local park has a really lovely garden that’s wooded with a Gazebo, so we opted to have our ceremony there and it was only $90 for the 3 hours we need it.

I know how you feel. We are trying to find a place for cheap to that looks decent and we wouldn't have to pay a party rental place for seats, tables and tents. It's hard to find in my area.

Hi Nellie, could you clarify if $700 is your budget for just the venue, or for the entire wedding? Knowing this information would help us be able to give you better recommendations and suggestions. Also, how many guests will you be inviting?

This is good to know! Depending on how many guests she's inviting, the OP may be able to look into VRBO options if she can find one in her budget

I would suggest checking the requirements of your state/county to make sure that's allowed. It might be allowed if it's outdoors, but I'm not from California so I don't know.

While I'm still unclear if $700 is your budget for just the venue or the entire wedding, it's absolutely possible to pull off a nice wedding with that number of guests if you can get creative about the venue. I know you said you want a garden but you don't know anybody with a garden in their back yard. But if someone you know with a garden-less backyard is willing to let you use their space, you could look into renting some plants and create your own garden vibe for your wedding. Or you could even just buy a bunch of plants from a local nursery, which would be a LOT more budget friendly than trying to rent a venue or Airbnb-type situation with a garden for the day.

But I do agree with Kelly that you'll want to monitor the situation due to the current wildfires. Another option would be to marry now at the courthouse and have your reception later when the wildfires/covid situation is under control.

You should ask your church and see if they’ll write you their banquet or their lower hall where the kids have lunch during school time

I'm sorry, but a $700 wedding in a fancy venue with a garden in the middle of raging wildfires is not possible. I would hold your wedding at somebody's home and use that $700 on food and alcohol.

Just a warning that some AirBnb are up charging with back yard rentals bc of the whole outdoor only thing. I ran into that problem here
