Any Wedding Surprises?

Bri, on February 8, 2021 at 3:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 13
My fiancé and I are taking dance classes throughout the year to a choreographed first dance. We don’t plan on telling anyone and having it be a total surprise at the wedding. I was curious if anyone else is planning on some surprises and how you’re keeping it secret- it’s so difficult!

    That is so cool!

i actually didn't tell quite a few people what was for dinner haha. i definitely asked for any allergies or special dietary requests though. we had a 10 course meal and that had a lot of variety and so that was definitely surprising to some.

I recommend! Everyone is always asking for details and plans for the wedding, so it’s been nice having something just for the two of us.

There’s a parrot that resides (only during the day) in the lobby of the hotel where we got married. We paid to have him come to our cocktail hour and meet the guests. That was a surprise and people got a big kick out of it!

I don't know if they are surprises but I'm not informing people before hand; we are having a donut sundae bar instead of cake, there will be outdoor lawn games and a firepit with s'mores.

We can also pay to have a train take our guests around the apple orchard we are getting married, or hayrides - weather permitting

Other than that I have nothing else planned, would like to think of something else though!

I love the idea of surprises at weddings! they all seem to be pretty much the same these days, and unique surprises would probably be a lot of fun for guests!

That is such a wonderful idea! Before we were even engaged I have always wanted to do a wedding dance performance. I'll have to bring that up to fiance again to see if he actually wants to do it!

We took dance lessons but decided a choreographed dance wasn’t for us. As for surprises I’m doing a dress change my fiancé doesn’t know about. He’s going to be floored because it’s a dress he picked from a magazine that he said was so me and gorgeous. I’m pretty stoked

I'm doing this same thing!! We have 2 different songs one my pick and the other his. They are can't help falling in love with u and suena which upbeat and is Spanish for his side of the family. Our plan is to make it seem like the DJ screwed up and completely ruined the first dance but surprise everyone with a more upbeat dance and end it again with the slow song.

I'm not entirely sure how many of our guests really believed we were doing a swordfight (besides those *IN* it).

So, I guess that was a surprise?

Surprises are fun at weddings, I love not really knowing what the entertainment will be!

I think the biggest surprise at my wedding (at least for the guests who know me) will be seeing me in a dress. I practically live in shorts and a tank top and really only put pants on if I'm playing cajon at church or going to a wedding or memorial service. Most of the people who know me now have never seen me wear a dress and a few have even said they basically expect me to be in a pant suit of sorts because me in a dress is just too outlandish of an idea. Other than that.... I don't know. I know my dad wants to choreograph our father-daughter dance. Not intentionally a surprise, but I'm not going around telling everyone about it. If there's enough time, I'll teach FH how to dance which would surprise the hell out of his people. In his own words, he "has 17 left feet".
