Anybody Doing/Done Isagenix?

amandal0514, on February 8, 2016 at 1:53 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 22

A friend of mine is doing the Isagenix thing and has lost 35lbs since September. I have about 65lbs that I'm needing to lose that I gained with my son (who is about to be 4!) I don't seem to have the willpower to do it with just moderation and whatnot so I'm going to give this a try. It's Day 1 for me and so far, so good.

Just wondering if anyone else had tried it and what your results were. It looks promising from all the pics I've seen!

Just an FYI, meal replacements work for a quick fix. once you start eating regular food again you will likely gain it all back. There are plenty of ways to drop lbs with REAL food, that you chew.

I did it, lost 26 pounds, gained 18 pounds back. Good for a quick fix, but doesn't work long term.

ETA: A little more detail. I did two months of isagenix. It worked ok but I really hated the taste of the shakes and I am not a fan of taking supplements. I found it to be a low calorie diet which I could have done without spending hundreds of dollars. I found once I went back to eating solid foods, I gained the weight back. Once I finished I ended up getting a kidney stone due to the high calcium content of the shakes/supplements (but I am predisposed to getting kidney stones). I am sure it works for some people, but I personally found it to be a waste of money and it ended up putting me in the hospital even after doctor approval.

I don't normally like to debate dietary lifestyles on a public forum because everyone (as is most definitely their right) has their own opinions and experiences. That being said, the biggest reason anyone gains anything back after following a dietary lifestyle that helped them lose the weight to begin with is because once they stopped, most of them went back to the exact same lifestyle as they lived before the change.

I am currently doing Isagenix and if you would like to know more, please email WWKatie to get my personal email address (Katie, you have my permission to relay this information). Reference this thread in case she needs to see permission. I can tell you more about it if you would like to know.

ETA: Thanks for the bump, Bethie.

I hate any weight loss program that involves replacing real food with anything. These companies exist to make money off of people wanting convenience.

As long as the OP knows how to transition into a healthy portion controlled lifestyle after she will be fine. Problem is most people don't and that's why they are turning to these alternatives in the first place. Good Luck, keep us posted.

    How long is the program?

I did the Isagenix in 2014 and lost 12 lbs. in a month and never put it back on. I didn't do all of the supplement things which I know would have helped. For me, it was the stability and the structure that I needed as well as their portions. The meal replacements (when used correctly) were helpful for my success as I was no longer snacking all day and eating junk.

I am going back on it again this year.

I do believe however, that with anything that is substantially changing your diet, eating habits etc. should be done in moderation and with a healthy goal in mind. Not everyone puts the weight back on, but some do.

I was personally not a fan in any way, partially because of the business practices of my distributor. She signed me up for a monthly subscription to products I absolutely did not need. Also, the protein powder has a crazy amount of carbs in it compared to most brands. I think you might do better doing research on what you should be eating yourself. I would recommend bodybuilding.com as a resource, it's not just for body builders.

I am on Isa and I love it! I went off of it for a couple months (a family member died and I just didn't want to keep up with anything). I kept the weight off until I started eating crap again. Back on it and I love it!

My Mom refused the sample packets, of the shakes, and instead bought a big tub each, of chocolate and vanilla. After choking down about 2 of each flavor, she gave the tubs to me. Lucky me ...

Of all the shakes I've ever tried, these actually aren't bad. They're not the most amazing tasting shakes I've tried, but I can drink all of them without problem. I've never had a vanilla I can drink straight. Also, I add stuff to them. Spices, vanilla, stuff like that that are free caloricly, but help with the flavor. And I feel like the taste of the products are such that they will definitely grow on you the more you taste them. People forget that you can actually force your palette to change if you keep forcing things on it. The more you eat or drink something, the more you learn to like it and then eventually love it. Never give up on something after just the first try. I'd say give something 3 tries and if you still can't stomach it at all and aren't willing to keep going until your palette changes, then don't eat or drink it anymore.

The problem with these kinds of diets is that you don't learn new, healthier habits so that's why a lot of people gain the weight back. If you don't learn to eat more veggies/lean proteins/healthy carbs, drink more water, and stop eating junk, you're not changing your lifestyle. Plus a lot of weight lost in Isa is water weight. I don't like the propaganda- I know a girl who uses it and tries to get others to do it too and she posts pictures of "before and after" of people before their 3-day fast and after...The pictures are absolutely ridiculous and obviously have months of hard work in between them. I'm sure it works for some people, just like anything works for some but not for all. I personally dramatically reduced my sugar and upped my veggie intake and upped my workouts and that's done the trick. I wanted to get new ideas for veggies so I have been trying a ton of new recipes. It's been a fun journey!

I was having concerns about losing weight and getting in better shape for my wedding in May. I had bells palsy a little over a year ago and the steroids made me gain serious weight! I started a program and so far I am down 12 inches and 10 pounds in just 2 months. I would love to share more photos and or share my program with you if you'd like. My email is *********@*****.***. Nothing makes me happier than sharing my success with others and helping them reach their goals.

Only thing it will really help you lose is weight out of your wallet.

skip it and stick with the standard calorie deficit .

I do my own diet and use trident labs marathon bcaa's in between meals so I don't snack. And thermo elite fatburners. I count my kcal on fat secret app. Workout 5-6 days a week.. More resistance tearing vs cardio...
