Anybody else a weekday wedding?

Mary, on June 13, 2019 at 6:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 31

Most of the weddings I have been to or heard about are on the weekends but my wedding is actually on our first anniversary of being eloped which happens to land on a Tuesday! Most people who are invited were confused as to why we are doing a Tuesday wedding at the beginning of November but its a very sentimental date for us. Anybody else have weddings falling on a weekday?

Your first anniversary of being eloped? What does that mean? Like you are already married & having a reception a year later?

I was in a Thursday wedding, as an out of state bridesmaid. It was inconvenient since the rehearsal & rehearsal dinner were on a Wednesday, meaning my fiance and I had to take off Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. But we still attended. It was a smaller wedding, 75/100 came. All were in town besides the groom's immediate family and us. I noticed they never hit their open bar limit & everyone left around 8 or 9 PM since they had work the next day for the most part.

Personally never been to a weekday wedding. I know they're cheaper but they're kind of inconvenient unless it's a Friday then that doesn't seem so bad

We are civilly married and are getting our marriage blessed in my church so we are doing a whole religious ceremony then a reception for our guests to celebrate our one year anniversary!

I haven't been invited to a weekday wedding before but even Friday weddings can be inconvenient. My neighbor who I have known all my life got married at 1pm on a Friday. That meant I would have to take off the whole day of work to get ready and be at the ceremony on time. If it was a later wedding like 5pm I probably would have considered going since I would only have to take a half day.

We thought about it but my fiance will be starting a new job shortly before so we figured he wouldn't have that much vacation time.

Not a weekday, but I am having a Sunday wedding which is a bit of a stray from a Friday or Saturday wedding that I've always ever been to.

We are on a Tuesday as well! We knew what month we wanted to get married during, and I've always wanted to get married during a full moon. It happened that the full moon of that month was on a Tuesday.

Mine is a Friday wedding. It's convenient in that we're 6 months away from the date and still working on narrowing down vendors and in almost every case, they've been available for that date. I've been to a Thursday wedding, it was cheaper for the couple plus it was sentimental date for them, her parents 50th anniversary. I think everyone had a good time. I was already taking that day off work anyway since I had just come back from a trip the night before, but I really wouldn't have needed to take off work to go.

Our wedding will be on a Friday evening. Most people we know will probably just take a half day or a full day off of work and it’s over a year and a half away so our VIP’s have plenty of notice.

We will be looking for a monday! They may be seen as "inconvienient" but if you want to be there then you will be and guests get plenty of time to save a day or two of PTO or whatever, how nice that it's a special day for you!

We are getting married on a Monday. We are having a semi-destination wedding about 2.5 hours away with just our families. They all know and are attending. Most have the day off anyway because it is Columbus Day. If we were having a bigger wedding then probably would have done a Friday or Saturday.

Ours is on a Friday. It saved us a lot of money with all our vendors to go from Saturday to Friday so a weekday it was!

Wednesday wedding here! Our venue was booked every weekend in October, so we said screw it and went with Wednesday. We were not settling for anything other than October 2019 and once we immediately fell in love with our venue and couldn’t imagine having our wedding anywhere else. I know it may be a bit of an inconvenience for some folks, but the way I see it is... if they really want to be there, they will be!

Also, according to tradition, Wednesday was believed to be the best day of the week to get married back in the day. So cool... we’ll roll with that! 😜

Ours is on a Tuesday. But it’s also a destination wedding with only family except a few friends. Everyone is traveling to Florida from either Oklahoma, Colorado, Hawaii, California, or Indiana. Ours is only 40 people. I think if we had our wedding where we live we may have done it on a Saturday just because way more people would have attended, but there’s nothing wrong with a week day wedding! I personally wouldn’t not go just because it was during the week.. unless it was early in the day. Our Tuesday wedding isn’t a big deal because everyone would’ve been traveling at some point anyways...
