Anybody moving and/or changing jobs within a few months of the wedding

I'm expecting to do both real close to the wedding. I've been looking for a job for over a year now in the city we plan to live in. Though I've gotten my resume seen and went through rounds of interviews I just can't seem to get offers. On top of that my FH is in the same situation. He doesn't want to stay in his city anymore so he's moving to me, but the city I live in doesn't have many options in the industry we want but the city an hour away does, that's where we're moving. But we have no jobs yet (in that city). It's so stressful.

Then to top it off some other company feels like they really want to hire me, but they're in a whole nother state that me and my FH hadn't considered, and with the wedding in a few months there's no way I could start working in another state any time soon.

Anybody in similar situation or have any advice?

Can you put off the move until after the wedding? We tried moving a few months before our wedding and it was SO stressful so we just gave up. Got married, settled back into life, and then we actually moved and ended up BOTH switching jobs all within a 3 week period, about 2 months after our wedding. I was just so relieved that all that chaos was AFTER the wedding

I changed jobs about 8 months before the wedding. I was really nervous because I had no vacations accumulated and a lot of wedding events coming my way. Luckily my new job is amazing! And they gave me not only 2 weeks off for my wedding but I also got it off for bachelorette party and I was able to leave early for all my dress fittings. I even got a bridal shower from them with amazing presents. I was looking for ever and found nothing and I’m glad I didn’t because this is where I was supposed to be so be patient. The right one would come at the right time.

3 weeks! Wow I'm glad you found a cool place to work though. I hope where I go I get a similar vibe to that.

Yes and no. My lease is done this month and I'm going month to month until we find a new place and move. It didn't make sense to renew for another year. Plus he's got to move regardless, but he's not coming from a lease situation, he's selling his house over to his roommate. But it's entirely possible that we don't get new jobs or new home until after the wedding but that might be on my mind at the wedding and I hope I don't stress about where we'll work and live during our wedding.

Moving is tough. i used to watch my mom go to interviews in other cities or states depending on the move and it was always a gamble. My date is just under 200 days and we are moving in 8 days. yea i am freaking out a little bit because i have been working so much that i haven't really packed anything. its driving me bonkers! but i had considered changing jobs, only problem is in my career its mostly commission and i have something good going here and now. the job i am looking at also pays less which is making me stay where i am but adding another 15 to 30 minutes during rush hour. (such a drag) so it makes it rough. but gambling even out of state, think about it in another perspective. it could be a fresh start, you're getting married, new life new place new chapters. if its timed right, like after the wedding maybe? it could be a great thing!!!

I live in Texas and I'm moving to Montana after the wedding. I've been looking at what kind of jobs are available over there but regardless of what I end up getting it looks like I'll be taking a huge pay cut 🥴

My fiancé was let go from his job just about a month ago and he was planning to use up his pto for the honeymoon. Our wedding is in December and he just recently got a job offer and starts Monday(thank goodness). I was very nervous because he would need to start a new job and then ask off for our honeymoon. Luckily his new job is very understanding and said he can get the honeymoon off. Maybe see if you Fh can start putting in application now in the new city to see if anyone reaches out before he moves to you. Just keep trying something will come up for you guys. I honestly didn't care what job my fiancé got he just needed a job because I couldn't support him only with my income and the wedding soon. He knew he would work in fast food till he found something in his felid as long as we got a check. Good luck, just breath and keep applying to everything. Try not to put to much stress on each other, this too shall pass.

I've been applying to the new city for over a year. He's been applying since this summer. I haven't received offers but I've had several rounds of interviews. He received an offer but it was way too low-ball, not even remotely comparable to his experience or even what another person in the same role would make in that city.

FH is considering changing jobs now and we will most likely be buying our first house and moving 2 months after the wedding.

My wedding was August 17th 2019. My husband, child, and I move from Jackson MS to North Carolina on September 27th. We only had one month to pack and find a moving company. My husband was offered a job and we had to move right away. I was so stressed because all of our money went toward the wedding and everything was happening all at once. Thank God we both had a couple work checks coming in for the move. I still can't believe we've moved 12 hours away from family and friends.
