Anyone been to Atlantis Bahamas?

Amy, on October 26, 2016 at 12:57 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 19

My FH and I are looking at Atlantis for a honeymoon in the spring of 2018 after our wedding. Has anyone been there? Is it worth it? I've never been outside of the US except for Canada so this would be my first "real" trip out of the US.

Atlantis is gorgeous! Just check the dates because the Bahamas can get a little crazy with college kids during the spring break season.

Be prepared for obnoxiously priced EVERYTHING. $25 for a cheeseburger that you would normally get for $7-8. Drinks are crazy as well. It's still a beautiful resort though! Just wanted to throw out the warning to prepare for $50+ meals every time you sit down.

I went a few years back and I LOVED it! It was paid for so all I spent money on was shopping and the casino. Everything about it is gorgeous. Check into pre-pay food/drinks.

It was great but expensive. We only stopped off there during a Disney cruise though, didn't actually stay longer than the one day.

It's beautiful. But just a bit frustrating because you're kind-of forced to eat at the expensive restaurants there.

We were there in March for 4 days and loved it but would do it smarter next time:

Pros: Recently remodeled, new management - better service; endless entertainment; great rides and beaches!

Cons: Expensive to eat on site - research where to eat in advance cause we were surprised by some of the prices. Best to make reservations. You can also leave the resort for meals - we did that one night and were so glad! We went to Goldies for fried fish Smiley smile

Pools and rides close early! 5 PM! So make sure to start your day early to get max time.

Another con can be cruise ship passengers and other "day trippers" - they kinda come in and flood the place for the day so that can affect how quickly you get on rides, etc.

Oh, and just to add that its super easy to get in and out of the Bahamas regarding immigration. But you do need a passport.

We went first week of March 2016 and weather was good for us - a little cool at night but perfect in the day.

It's very pretty-but very expensive, and family oriented.

I went as a kid and it was seriously a dream. But, one thing I loved about it was how fun it was for me, at like 9. So, keep that in mind... It's definitely for families.

They don't really do all inclusive like other resorts! Very expensive but amazing

Yeah, maybe we should rethink it lol. Even though I have kids (and love them to death) I want to be able to enjoy just us time. Maybe we'll start looking for all inclusive resorts. We know we want to be in the Caribbean and I know there's plenty of resorts around.

We went to Sandals in the Bahamas. It's all inclusive and adults only. We went to Atlantis for one day to go to the casino. It was beautiful and huge. We know that we got a better value at Sandals.

If you want to do the Bahamas, I highly recommend Sandals Royal Bahamian! It's all-inclusive, and especially if you're going on your honeymoon they almost always upgrade you to a suite free of charge. It was amazing when me n FH went in 2014, and we were only going for a dating anniversary trip and got the upgrade! You still have the option of traveling off site to Atlantis but you're not paying disturbing prices to be there every day.
