Anyone doing a bridal fitness package?

OregonGirl, on June 6, 2016 at 12:00 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 12

I bike a lot and my weight has always been a very consistent 130 (I'm almost 5'9"). I don't want to lose weight, but I'm thinking about doing a bridal fitness package at Barre 3. Anyone tried it? Just to look more toned, since mostly just bike and run and my stomach is not the most toned. My dress is very fitted. Smiley winking

I haven't tried barre 3 but I did ballet beautiful for a while and I liked it. I do pilates pretty regularly now and eat healthy. I intend to pick up some more cardio and do some weight training. This is inline with my own fitness goals though, not just because of the wedding - although it IS good motivation lol

ETA: weights/Pilates is all done at home; I don't use a professional gym. Just FYI Smiley smile

    1.) Toning isn't' a thing.

2.) Any class you're going to do is going to be cardio based.

3.) you want muscle definition- you need to pick up some real weights

4.) Antonia you look a lot like Ann Hathaway in that picture- like you could be her sister.

Personally I would look at the quality of the class rather than whether it was bridal based. I feel a lot of those are not the best and are just putting "bridal" on there as a marketing ploy. Fitness is fitness and relating it to the wedding isn't going to change anything. Look around and find a class that is geared to your own personal fitness goals and with an instructor you like. If you try to stick with a bridal class you are really limiting yourself.

I don't know what Barre 3 is (I'm assuming it's a place), but barre exercises are great for toning because they work on strength and flexibility at the same time. Echoing what Jo said, cardio is great for you but they are not for toning. Strength training will give you the toning.

The barre class that I've done wasn't overly dance like (barre itself is a ballet warm-up), and we used light weights with lots of repetitions, plus plenty of body weight movements (think squats, planks, etc). You will learn to love the burn!!!

I would do the bridal package if your interested but try the class first. I personally love Pure Barre, Fly Barre, and the Bar Method. The classes help me tremendously and keep you accountable for going because you get charged if you don't go. Nothing gets my ass up easier at 5am then the thought of getting charged 25 more for skipping.

Toning is a made up word by women's magazines. You can either build muscle or lose. You sound like you need to build muscle. Check out an intro weight lifting program like New Rules of Lifting or Stronglifts 5x5.

"Bridal Fitness Package" sounds like bullshit marketing to the wedding industry.

Oh Barre classes are supposed to be great! A lot of my friends take them and get great results, so I'm sure it's not bullshit marketing. It's usually 220/mo and for the package it's 350 for 3 months, which I could actually afford! I was curious if anyone else was taking advantage of these types of deals.

If you haven't tried barre I would take one class first. I know many people love it. I personally hated it. That doesn't mean it's bad, just that different people like different exercise. I'm more into Crossfit and running or swimming.

I am not doing a bridal pkg but I purchased 30 personal training sessions at my gym. It was a splurge for my lifestyle and budget (over $600) but I feel like it will be worth it and improve my health and fitness on top of getting me looking better for the wedding. I also have some extra weight on me that I want to lose. I am bad at working hard at the gym by myself so I need the training to make a difference. I also have started taking fitness classes on my lunch breaks. I only have about three months left!
