Anyone Eloping??

My fiance and I are eloping in Asheville, NC exactly six months from today. We will be married in the shadow of Mt Pisgah and have a photographer. We will participate in a handfasting ceremony. To honor my fiance's heritage, I am wearing a lace emerald green dress. He will be wearing an emerald vest. I will carry clay flowers, which are being made and shipped from Kazakhstan and he will have a boutonnier from the same vendor. We are hoping to have immediate family to join us, but if not, it will be fine. Following our evening ceremony we will dine together for the first time as husband and wife. We are planning a "honeymoon" the following year.

I love how you are still incorporating so many personal details! I think people think of elopements like they used to be years and years ago- wearing Sunday best clothing, going to the courthouse, and that’s it. Elopements are so much more creative these days! I love that you are still having a photographer and taking a honeymoon

My husband and I had considered eloping when we were first starting our wedding plans! We were considering going somewhere super scenic, and having just us, an officiant, a photographer, and two witnesses. But then, we realized we'd probably also have to invite our immediate families. And then we also wanted to invite a super small group of friends who we pretty much consider as family. And then if we invite those friends, we'd also have to invite another group of friends that are closely linked to the first group of friends. And if we're inviting all those friends, we should probably also include aunts/uncles/cousins/grandparents/etc. And at that point, we realized it wouldn't be an elopement, and that we probably should just plan a full wedding and reception, lol. I love seeing all the ways people make city hall weddings and elopements super special and sweet! So much less pressure and stress from a planning perspective too, and a lot easier on the bank account. I'd also love to see photos from everyone's elopements!
