Anyone else doing an unchoreographed first dance?

Literally every wedding I've gone to recently included a choreographed first dance that seemed more like a show than what I think of as a traditional first dance. I was discussing this with some of my friends and they seem to be under the impression that the first dance should be entertaining for your guests and, therefore, should have some choreography and flashy elements to it to get the crowd cheering. I'm under the impression that the first dance is for us and I would prefer a more intimate, elegant dance. I just want a special moment on the dance floor after saying I do as opposed to putting on a show for our guests.

What are your thoughts? Anyone else doing an choreographed dance?

We're doing a rumba, but nothing really "choreographed." I do like @Hol's idea of shortening the song, so there's less time for the guests to awkwardly watch our little personal moment!

My FH is currently trying to teach me how to waltz. Definitely nothing choreographed. I am not a very good dancer so it may even end up just being a prom sway lol.

We bought dance lessons and never made it to them. Our first dance was literally the first time we had ever danced together. It was combination prom sway and something resembling dancing.

Two step for us! No choreographed dancing. That would be even more awkward than the slow dance.

FH had two left feet, so it's the prom sway for us. Lol!

I don't like them, unless they are professionals. I dance, FH doesn't. I would never do this to him.

Nope not us, my FH has two left feet, and besides, I don't like choreograph dancing, it's forced, and it don't help, When you have no rhythm!! So slow dancing for us!!

FH and I aren't big dancers. We're just going to sway to half of a song lol

We will most likely not be doing one, and if we do it'll be something silly, followed by something just for us. I think it's important to have that intimate moment between the two of us. It's the one moment where we just get to slow down.

FW and I aren't doing a choreographed dance, it's just not our style. We're doing a simple slow dance to the song "From this moment on" by Shania Twain

We are going to dance like normal boring people at our wedding. Because we are normal boring people.

I guess I'm the odd one out. We are doing a choreographed dance because I feel that we need to be different. All of the other slow dances will not be choreographed so I wanted was this one to be special. Since we've taken lessons, I've gone back and forth on wether or not to stay with our dance but I think it'll turn out good. It's a special bonding experience with my FH, learning a dance together.

My SIL and brother did a choreographed dance and I thought it made my brother look silly. He only did to make her happy - just not his style. FH and I are not dancers thus we are not dancing at our reception.

I'm a dancer. Still not doing anything special. Not worth it. Not trying to make him be someone he isn't.

Elizabeth I'm with you the first dance should be about the two of you not to entertain guests

That's not our style. Slow dance it is. We are both awkward and not good dancers anyway. If we even attempted to do something choreographed I'm pretty sure we would look like total idiots lol
